Meet Daniel Torres of La Jolla Tortilleria and Tortiyas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Torres.

Hi Daniel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
La Jolla Tortilleria is a family-owned business. I grew up in the family business helping make the boxes, working in production, even delivering. I dropped out of college to working 18 hours a day and I still work 18 hours, the only difference is that now as the CEO of La Jolla Tortilleria and Tortiyas LLC. which is the company I’ve created to provide organic tortillas to a market I was not reaching with La Jolla. To all this, I am now the owner to a restaurant under the La Jolla name.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It is never a smooth road, everyday is a new challenge, post-Covid the tortilla business has been a rollercoaster from price increase in every sector. I love the struggle and challenges because every struggle and challenge are steps forward into something better, it shapes you as well as your companies path to keep moving forward and be where we currently are to date.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
A Tortilla is a 60-70% of a taco, but do you ever wonder where or who makes these tortillas? We provide to 70% of Los Angeles street vendors and distribution centers like US Foods and some LA stadiums. We custom formulas to our client’s needs. Which makes us stand out due to our service and quality; we stand 100% behind and take pride in our products and who we are as a company.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We have our website where clients can submit their orders, www.buyatortilla.com; they can also reach out to us on social media. Instagram – @tortiyas_llc and @lajollatortilleriainc or email me directly daniel@lajollatortilleria.com.
