Meet Kris Rosales of Creative Hoop Project

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kris Rosales.

Kris, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started Creative Hoop Project LLC in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. I knew I wanted to build some type of community that revolved around basketball, coffee, and a little bit of skateboarding. It has been quite the journey especially since there were so many restrictions early on. As the restrictions slowly went away, I was able to really get out and put the brand out there. It hasn’t been easy, but the lessons I’ve learned and the people I have met make it worth it.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Some of the struggles I have had can range from product delays to small little details on the website. One thing that stands out the most was when I was coaching a 4th grade basketball team and launching a project during practice. The connection was not smooth enough to launch the content I had prepared beforehand. As a result, the launch process didn’t go as smooth as I wanted it to. Another struggle is time management. Creative Hoop Project LLC is one of three things that I do so I need to make sure I am on top of things. At times, I would find myself constantly moving and not realizing I could have made it easier if I just had managed my time correctly.

We’ve been impressed with Creative Hoop Project LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Creative Hoop Project is a brand that is influenced by basketball, coffee, and a little bit of skateboarding. We specialize in portraying basketball through an artistic lens that always has meaning. There is always a reason to why we put out projects. What sets us apart is the fact that each project has to do with an event/experience in my personal life mixed with hoops, coffee, and skate culture. The thing I’m most proud of brand-wise is how much we have grown. We don’t have a hundred thousand followers. We have a core group that is slowly growing. They are always asking what the next design will be and shooting us ideas. It’s also rewarding when people message you pictures of other random people wearing our shirts. We’d like the readers to know that if you are into basketball (Lakers), coffee, and skateboarding then they should come mess with us.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
This is Not A T-Shirt by Bobby Hundreds and Shoe Dog by Phil Knight heavily influenced me to start Creative Hoop Project.
