Today we’d like to introduce you to Renata Meirelles.
Hi Renata, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my career young, at 14 when I still didn’t know what I was doing, but I knew I wanted to work in audiovisual, and specifically on creative projects aimed at entertainment, music and art.
I’ve worked in big projects while living Brazil, developing skills in different positions on set (photographer, cinematographer, producer) and with all this experience, I was able to invest in the growth of BLACK3 – today based in NYC and in Brazil, where we continue to grow in a collaborative format of creators around the world.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I believe there is nothing easy, to reach some goal we need to give up other things– but if it’s your mission, you need to do it, with passion and love.
Audiovisual has always been more difficult for women, and for me always was this up as the biggest challenge, to be respected in an environment where the presence of male leadership still prevails.
But, I believe that even what is not easy can make us change something and transform our environment. Today, due to a work of curatorship and management that I do weekly, we have a database of women professionals, and we also invest in new female talents, as it was a way I found to collaborate with that question and do something with a proposal, because the end of the day, the only thing we can have control to change, is our attitude.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
