Exploring Life & Business with Markayla Hardeman of ShadedByKaylaa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Markayla Hardeman.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I go by Kaylaa *hints* ShadedByKaylaa. I’m from Los Angeles, CA. I not only sell sunglasses. I have headbands, lipgloss, scrunchies and handbags (from time to time) as well. I started my business back in 2018 when I realized how much I loved sunglasses. I figured why not start my own sunglass business, I did my research and just went for it. As time goes on, I notice how much more I’m succeeding in my business and I always find reasons why I should not give up. I’m always looking for new items to add to my business.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road, the struggle I’ve had is finding good vendors for my inventory. There were times I did want to give up but I found so many reasons to keep going.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am known for my different sunglasses I always have. The things that set me apart are my styles of sunglasses and my items I have that others don’t. I’m proud that my brand/business is always growing and that people are learning more and more about me and my business. I want everyone to know and understand I love new ideas and help on what I should add to my brand.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I learned that even in hard times to never give up. During Covid-19 is when my business really picked up and I really became noticed from so many pop-up shops I did, and just randomly setting my things up.
