Today we’d like to introduce you to Trevor Stone.
Hi Trevor, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
All my life ever since I was a child, I’ve always loved visual arts and the way a camera can capture a moment, a setting, a feel, whatever you want to call it. I didn’t realize how much I loved it till highschool though. When I reached highschool, I was that average kid that hated school, didn’t do his homework, didn’t know what he wanted to do with his life, and so on. Senior year I needed art credits still to graduate and the only class that was available was “Video Arts and Tech”. The second I walked in there and got a camera in my hands, it was game over. I fell in love instantly and people caught on pretty quickly that not only this was something I was passionate about, but also maybe I’m not too bad at it either. Now we get five years later, and thanks to my job I currently have that I would not like to disclose the name of, I was able to move to LA and begin this long-awaited journey I’ve been chasing after for years.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not, there have definitely been bumps in the road, times I thought I wasn’t good enough, times I thought about other people and compared them to me thinking they’re so much better than me, times financially that affected my work, times where I needed to take a step back and reevaluate my entire motive or way I do things because it was hurting my mental health. I know it’s all worth it though because this is something I love and I refuse to grow old and regret not making myself as happy as I can as much as I can.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
So I would consider myself a photographer and videographer, however I am most known for my photography and that’s what most people would consider me. My overall goal is to get into video production and possibly have my own production crew company that would go out and shoot commercial video projects such as such as movies or TV ads for high-profile companies. I think what sets me apart from everyone else is that I’m very aware of who I am, what I want, and what needs to get done in order to get to what I want. I also will never stop, I know what I want and I know what I love and I will keep hustling to get to where I need to be and I don’t care what anyone else thinks I should do because someday I will die and none of that will matter, so my goal is always to make myself as happy as I can for as long as I can.
What matters most to you?
I think that the meaning of life is happiness, therefore what matters most to me is my happiness while also considering other people’s happiness around me. The reason I think this way is because at the end of the day, we all created everything that’s around us, the only thing that we really didn’t create around us is ourselves, human beings. We are just on this rock in space together and that’s all we really have. Therefore to me, my humanity and happiness, and your humanity and happiness is the most important thing to me.
