Rising Stars: Meet Laquan Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laquan Williams.

Hi Laquan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started Superior Life Energy back in 2012 because I wanted to use my art to help uplift people on a spiritual level. I create orgonite pyramids by hand using resin, metals and 100% natural crystals.

Imagine waking up completely unable to move. No screaming. No getting up. Just totally frozen.

Many people with struggle with this, but few talk about it because of the stigmas attached to it.

Since I was a teen, I struggled with sleep paralysis. If you’re not familiar with it, it’s a phenomena that occurs when you wake up during REM sleep, completely immobilized. It occurs between 5-10 seconds, but it can easily feel like minutes.

My father has always been very spiritual and deep into the new age movement way before it was popular. He gifted me with a crystal pyramid and a pendant from an artist named Dawn Robertson back in 2012. He gave them to me because he believed that they would help assist me with my sleeping issues. He said that the reason I was having problems was because I needed to ‘raise my vibration’ and that this was going to help remove negative energy from my space.

I decided it couldn’t hurt to give it a try. I began wearing the pendant everyday, and I put the pyramid in my bedroom not far from where I sleep. To my surprise, it actually worked! My night terrors completely vanished. Over time, I became intrigued by the crystals and wanted to learn all about them and their different properties, so I began collecting them and learning how to make art with them. I even taught myself how to go digging for crystals out in nature!

Eventually, I started my Superior Life Energy Instagram page and began building a community to share my art and help uplift others. To my surprise, my audience began building quickly, and people were soon contacting me for customized projects and for opportunities to be a vendor at their events.

Today, I have a worldwide customer base, expanded product line, and a growing audience! Currently, all orders can be placed in my online shop. In the future, I am looking to open a Superior Life Energy physical location in the next 2-3 years.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
If anyone tells you being an entrepreneur is easy, they’re either delusional or they’re not a real entrepreneur. Becoming an entrepreneur was actually the easy part. STAYING an entrepreneur is a different story altogether. Every day I feel challenged to become better than I was before, something I didn’t quite feel when I worked for corporate America.

There are so many challenges that come along with this path that no one really prepares you for. One of the biggest obstacles I faced was believing in myself no matter what every day. Even when I make a mistake. Even when I am not feeling well. Even when I feel the pressure of constant uncertainty in business. Even when everyone else tells you to just “play it safe and get a real job”.

I found that support was very hard to come by, and I often had to celebrate my victories alone because most people simply don’t understand this lifestyle. I had to learn to be okay with that and to find other like-minded people who were on a similar path. I’ve made lifelong friends and business partners who I know have my best interest and support me when I feel weak. Without them, I would have given up a very long time ago.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in creating fully customizable Orgonite Pyramids. My style is what attracts people to my business. I love using flashy stones, bold colors, and unique combinations of crystals to achieve beautiful textures and designs.

What makes my brand stand out is the ease at which customers are able to select the crystals, metals, colors, size, etc. for their creation. I am able to intuitively bring their ideas to life. I ONLY use authentic, 100% natural gemstones and everything is handmade.

I am most proud of my loyal customer base and audience. I have had many ups and downs over the years, but one thing that has definitely kept me going is the love and support that I receive daily from my audience.

I am very active in my local community, attending local events, hosting wire-wrapped jewelry workshops, and digging at local sites to find crystals right here in PA!

I am known as a ‘Crystal Guru’ because I can easily name just about every crystal and their spiritual properties at the snap of a finger!
