Meet Paige Forbes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Forbes.

Hi Paige, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was introduced to art at a very young age and had the privilege of learning from several wonderful teachers while growing up in Los Angeles. I enjoy traveling and experiencing new places, so I have pursued my degree in studio art and art history in colleges on both the east and west coasts. Most recently, I have received a Bachelor of Art from San Francisco State University where I focused on painting and exhibition design. I was fortunate to work for the Fine Arts Gallery on campus during my time at SF State and was able to explore the duality of being a practicing artist and a curator. Due to the pandemic, I moved back to Los Angeles to be closer to my family, and I am thoroughly enjoying my new neighborhood in the Arts District of North Hollywood. I am actively seeking work in a creative field.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I have faced many obstacles in my educational path, but feel strongly that each challenge helped shape who I am as a person and artist. Financial struggle showed me that I am stronger than I thought, I have always balanced work and school simultaneously and achieved a 3.98 at the conclusion of my studies. Finances also pushed me to diligently pursue scholarships, and my writing improved greatly with each application.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Mostly recently, I have worked as an assistant to an art director and loved every minute of it. I found the job to be very exciting because my roles changed every day and it gave me the opportunity to wear numerous hats while working in a gallery space. I specialize in project and studio management, research, curation, writing, exhibition installation, art handling, archiving and conservation, hospitality and customer service. I am most proud of my achievements as a painter and pride myself on my ability to communicate with all types of people.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I love fashion design and frequently create my own clothes.
