Daily Inspiration: Meet Andrew Kyle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Kyle.

Hi Andrew, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my hair journey when I was 18 years old as an assistant for a makeup artist and hairstylist based in Los Angeles. I originally thought on set work was what I wanted to do. After doing that for several years, I realized I really wanted to have a home base as well as a skill set that I specialized in. So I started cosmetology school and then went straight into assisting at Ramirez Tran salon in Beverly Hills where it all really started and I’ve been riding the wave ever since! After several years of assisting a colorist and learning all the tips and tricks, I was given the opportunity to get a day on the floor and start taking my own color clients. Six years and counting of being behind the chair and building my clientele, I still love it as much as the day I started.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think the only obstacles I’ve faced are obstacles that I’ve put in front of myself. It’s easy to doubt your worth or talent especially in the hair world because there are so many of us and you find yourself comparing. But I found that with time I’ve really come into my own and feel like I have my own signature look and have become so comfortable in the best way possible!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a hair colorist based out of Los Angeles specializing in variations of coloring techniques but best known for bright and natural sunkissed blondes.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
When it comes to my clients, there’s no risky business. My clients come to me because of the work that I do. So if I were to deter from that there could be a risk of them not being happy with the result. Don’t fix it if it ain’t broken is my vibe.
