Today we’d like to introduce you to Tremaine “Tm4” Brewer Jr.
Tremaine “Tm4”, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
First off, I’m Tremaine Brewer known as “Tm4, Tmac, or Macco”. I am the Founder of Winter Cold Records. Being raised by my grandmother “Brenda Mitchell-Wade” and her Husband “Jewel Wade“ I was bound to fall in love with music. Brought up in her household, she would frequently play, in her words, “The Oldie But Goodies”. In about the 2nd grade on Christmas vacation is when I started being passionate about pursuing music for my own seasonings. Since my sister and I were the grandkids that lived with my grandparents, our cousins use to visit on holiday & summer vacations. My cousin Budda use to come over all the time because his mom was really in actuality one of my granny’s bestfriend “Auntie Laura”. Now my extended family & I mean the whole family does music in some type of way. If your from Watts, CA you know about the Clarke family FOR SURE. But never the less Budda use to come over and tell me I should start writing music. Since then at eight years old, I start writing and pursuing my dreams of making it in the entertainment business.
Around the age of 13 or 14 is when I actually got in the studio and laid down my first track. From then on, it’s been all about perfecting my craft and wanting to work with other artists to learn more because I knew nothing but to right and rhyme. Once I finish school at age 18, I was indecisive on rather or not to pursue music full time and I had my granny in my ear saying “Get a job.” While the whole time, I been outside making ends meet for myself for the things my parents would definitely not buy like Jordan’s & certain upper echelon designers. At that point is when I met my close friend whole is more like a brother to me “Chill’Gutta.” I had already started being small recording equipment but my boy had every and we would set up right in my granny’s garage. Even though he had his own team and I had mine, we been locked in since before the music when we both were on the block as some badass kids just trying to make it out the best way we knew how.
From then living the type of life I was living, I gave my life to Allah and he started to bless me with two son’s “Tremaine3rd and Tru Sire” to wake me up & keep me out the way of myself. I started to realize all the things I been thru in my life it’s time to put in everything rather it’s blood, sweat or tears. I starting doing a lot of features for my friends that are up and coming. Like Fake shit Remix, Lock me out, & punk ass bitch by Chill’Gutta, let it blow by Zaae also Clarity by Dub4eva100. About a year or so later, I had my daughter Winter Jewel, I decided to start my own Recording & production label “Winter Cold Records“ named after her.
After branding, trademarking and getting certain paperwork out the way. I signed myself as the first artist on the label as “Tm4”. I dropped my first single “Pain” two weeks after. It had over 80,000+ streams and downloads on its first couple of weeks out. From then I been in the studio working and out on the streets looking for new talent. That’s when I ran into a childhood friend who goes by the stage name Word(Los Angeles, CA). While just chilling at my house, he showed me his catalog of music and I was blown away cause it was so unexpected. After a couple of weeks or possibly months passing, I presented an offer to him about signing on to be a part of the great things I’m looking forward to doing at Winter Cold Records. He agreed and we been on a little run so far. Shortly after Word Signed with us Winter Cold Records had two separate songs featured or the LA LEAKERS SHOW on SHADE45 SiriusXM radio after networking with B Eazy the Dj.
Now we at Winter Cold Records just signed a “Juicee (South Central Los Angeles)”. & things are looking brighter than ever.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a long road to get to where I am now. From losing family & close friends alone always take a big toll on me because of how family-oriented I am so from losing my Father, God Father, Cousins, & friend like Speedy, Danny, & Lawrence. You started to doubt rather you want to keep goin because it seems like everyone is being taking away. I start goin thru the judicial system myself back to back over petty avoidable reasons.
But the last straw for me was when I got stabbed in my neck for helping somebody that’s supposed to be my boy. Most of the people I thought would ride for me left me to die alone and fend for myself. So that’s when I decided to rearrange my life and priorities for the benefit of me and my family. Now everything isn’t has heavy on this road to success.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Winter Cold Records is the most versatile Record & production label because as a Black-Owned Business, we are looking to break the business stereotypes of hip hop/rap artists owning a label. We will have Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, and Reggae! This business isn’t just a recording and production company. We are in works with graphic designers for the start of an apparel line that will be dropping early 2021.
