Conversations with Jace Hardwick

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jace Hardwick.

Hi Jace, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my film journey back in middle school with my co-director Oliver Smith. We would make shorts for YouTube because at that time we aspired to be like Freddie Wong, Julian Smith, and Ryan Connolly. It wasn’t until freshman year of college where we finally decided to pursue film full time because we wanted jobs that always brought something new and never felt stagnant.

Around 2017 we started our company, Action Studios in the hopes to build a team with the skill sets to someday create feature films, narratives, commercials, and more, that would impact people in a positive or inspiring way

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not. Every day would have their battles and honestly we are still pushing to do our best each day. I was fortunate enough to have friends and people around me that believed in what I was pursuing, so I always felt supported along the way. However, trying to run a company and lead a team definitely makes you grow up fast and you have to be willing to sacrifice a lot along the way.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In terms of what I do, I manage my company with the help of my producer Andrew Baer, but more specifically I serve as the “Creative Director”. My job is to make sure that Action Studios stays on the creative path we wish to follow and what our brand represents. This is everything from directing narratives, commercials, and social media content.

I am mostly known for my directing and some social media content.

I am most proud of my little niece, but in terms of what I do, I am most proud of my team and how they have been able to step up to the plate even when things get hard.

For what sets me apart from others, I’m not too sure. My ability to get back up even when I’m knocked down, and to create collaborative teams I guess.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
My love for people. I don’t think I would even be remotely close to where I am today if I didn’t have the people I have around me. I believe film is a collaborative art and it’s only when you can lean on other people’s gifts and integrate them into a project, that you can really begin to take steps towards success. Everyone has a story and different life experiences, I simply love hearing them and seeing how they can place a little piece of themselves into what we do.
