Rising Stars: Meet Keanna Barnes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keanna Barnes.

Hi Keanna, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
When I moved to Los Angeles over ten years ago, I rented out the corner of a living room and slept on a futon for a year until I was able to get on my feet. Before moving to LA, I lived at home in Atlanta and worked as a real estate agent. By the time I was 25, I had owned four investment properties. Unfortunately, when the market crashed in 2008, it took a tremendous toll on my business, all my investment properties, and personal finances, leaving me financially and emotionally bankrupt. I decided it was time for a change of scenery and I honestly felt led to Los Angeles even though I had never been. Being obedient to that “calling” has proven to be the best decision of my life. Not only did I meet and marry the love of my life (and we now have two beautiful girls)–I also returned to my love of real estate equipped with hands on knowledge that could never be taught in school. I enjoy empowering my clients and community with that wisdom through my YouTube channel and my podcast, “Real LA Living”.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
As an agent, you are in business for yourself and you have to show up for yourself because no one else will. In this business, there are many ups and downs and each client has their own unique situation which keeps me on my toes! I am a problem solver and my resiliency helps me to consistently achieve wins for my clients. It is by the grace of God that I am living the prayers I prayed years ago.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I successfully help my clients navigate through the biggest transactions of their lives. My motto is: “I create new homeowners, upgrade existing ones, and protect the equity and legacy of future owners.” My background in multiple markets, fierce negotiating skills, and my authentic values is proven in my work. What sets me apart from most agents is that I’ve been in my client’s shoes on multiple occasions so my goal is to make the process of purchasing or selling a home a smooth and enjoyable experience. I am blessed with the most amazing clients and working in alignment makes what I do so fulfilling.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy is knowing that I put my best into my family, my business, and into myself. This brings me joy–not based on anyone else, I decide and create my own joy, my own happiness. And closing deals. Closing deals makes me happy!
