Conversations with Doyin “Doc” Adewole

Today we’d like to introduce you to Doyin “Doc” Adewole.

Hi Doyin “Doc”, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My professional career began by investing in the education of high school students. I was fortunate enough to translate the missing link between children seeking to find meaning in life and having an educator who was relatable + cool enough to convey the message of how vital an education would be to their collective futures. When my time at the high school ended, I transitioned back to Los Angeles and into the world of corporate communications at Hulu. While corporate America presented many rewards and challenges, I still possessed an undying thirst to express myself through art. This led to me eventually create my own clothing line, The Tribe United. The Tribe was very successful as our team enjoyed 16 seasons of cutting edge urban apparel, eventually ended up on a national syndicated TV show, a collaboration with Nokia Phones, which culminated with a guest appearance at the Grammy Awards at The Staples Center! My next venture includes launching my sophomore clothing line; The Win Legacy, a fashion line which promotes and emphasizes the physical, mental, and spiritual capacity we all possess to Win under all circumstances. The tag line of the brand includes the convicting slogan, “what would you attempt to do if you could not fail?”. Much more than apparel, it is a call to action stemming from my belief that we are called to “offer one another courage” for the day. Namely, I want to see us all WIN. If I were to summarize my highest impact, it would revolve around being recognized as an internationally renowned model, content creator, and designer who uses his platform responsibly to facilitate change in this world.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road has been anything but smooth. I come from a family of educators, which stressed education as the only portal to success. My dad holds a PhD from USC, my eldest sister is also a Medical Dr. with an education from Yale. My mother was a head nurse at UCLA, brother a physicist at PITT University and my younger sister is in social work. I was an athlete and an artist. I realized that at a young age, I was unwilling to pay the price of sacrificing my authenticity for relationships, so I turned to art as a way of filtering and understudying my greater purpose. Moving forward with little and often zero support was incredibly challenging and yet also confirmation that my message needed to be delivered. The art has never failed me.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I create compelling stories, visuals, and vignettes which communicate a designer’s vision to their intended audience. While unconventional, my brand is all about connectivity and originality. While I am extremely proud of the inspiration and impact I have contributed to the world of modeling, I am also humbled to realize that I am truly just getting started! This has led me to branch out to the world of styling for music videos and fashion shows, hosting events, and being the mediator for corporate sponsorships. My esteemed clientele includes hosting Lagos PHX Fashion Show, The Yere Fashion House, The Oliventa Brand, International Recording Artist Kizz Daniel’s 2019 concert, The 2019 Miss Africa America Beauty Pageant, and The Lagos Phoenix AfroMusic Festival 2020, and more recently a brand partnership with Goorin Bros Hat company, Taft Shoes, a Milano Di Rouge Model, as well as becoming the face of the prolific 501c3 Health4Peace.

What does success mean to you?
I define success by being able to look your peers in the eyes and know that you did not fail them. When that same look is reciprocated, you understand that you have given all you have, and that is enough.
