Conversations with KOROstyle

Today we’d like to introduce you to KOROstyle.

Hi KOROstyle, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am born in Grenoble, France and moved to the US as a kid. My parents are both Senegalese. I’ve always enjoyed expressing myself artistically. I started drawing anime, then Breakdancing, then doing Parkour and music production throughout high school. Later my focus reoriented to music. With a large back catalog of music with vinyl releases and having played and toured various countries, I decided to take my artistry from North Carolina to L.A. in 2018. Surprisingly, as much as I continue to pursue music, Modeling and Acting have presented a strong path for me. I have been blessed to be featured on productions including “Beyonce’s (Black is King)”, Alicia Keys (2019 Grammy Performance) to name a couple, and I greatly look forward to new opportunities in the arts.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Covid has put a big pause to things especially in the arts industry. The artist’s path was never easy and our current state of world has made it almost difficult for many to find grounding or stability in the Arts. New opportunities are being created where some have been destroyed, and we have but to continue to evolve and adapt to our circumstances like we always have in order to progress.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am primarily an electronic music producer by the name “KOROstyle” specializing in Grime and Dubstep music. I am proud of my three vinyl releases, as it is difficult to land a vinyl release with labels nowadays given the production and distribution expenses. What sets me apart is my die hard attitude to not give up and my peculiar artist style which presents itself in my various crafts.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was always very curious and adventurous. I was also a big risk taker and always wanted to push limits and break the rules. If there was something exciting, I always followed it. I’ve had a lot of energy within my whole life and art has been a great vessel for me to push my inner boundaries and express myself.
