Life & Work with Aliyah Murray

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aliyah Murray.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey began in 2018 when I first got introduced to modeling. Amazing how it happened because I never even thought to be a model. But after volunteering at a charity event in Sacramento, CA. I was invited by a woman in the crowd to walk in my first show in Manhattan, NY.

With no experience or training, I strutted down the runway the best I could and instantly, I knew there was nothing else I wanted to do. I fell in love with the lights, cameras, the chaos, the competition, and the amount of self-love I was building. I was addicted! I started taking the bus to LA from my hometown Fairfield to do shows and network. Finally, what I thought was my BIG break I got signed to Q model management in Los Angeles. I moved a week after and was blessed with endless opportunities and met so many beautiful people.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest challenge I faced so far on my journey was definitely in May 2020, unfortunately I found out my patella was unstable, which caused repetitive dislocation in both of my legs over the years. I had to take care of this situation before it got worse so I decided in July to pack up my home in North Hollywood, CA and moved back to the Bay Area putting my dreams on a halt. August 26, I had MPFL and TTO surgery done. Now, this may seem sad but I unleashed a layer of strength and determination I had no idea I even had!

September 25, 2020 just a month after surgery, I launched my brand Thank God For Tomorrow (TGFT). TGFT is not just a clothing brand, it’s a movement. When you pick a sweater of your choice, you will receive a notebook to practice expressive writing which is beneficial for anxiety/depression, decluttering the mind, and relieving stress. Also, white sage which is good for meditation, relaxation and removal of bacteria, fungi and more. Writing, keeping good energy around me and remembering that each day is an opportunity to get better! I found the strength to heal not only physically but mentally as well. I pray that my business TGFT will not only keep encouraging others to keep going but myself as well so I can get back to doing what I love the most after my next procedure in March.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a model, entrepreneur and I am currently working on voice over acting. On my down time I love to paint, create photoshoot concepts and read. As I get older I’m sure I will continue to find ways to utilize my creativity and show case my talents.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Los Angeles is filled with endless opportunities and amazing people from all over the world. The only downside to that is LA is packed and the traffic is like nothing I’ve experienced before. My first week I was late to everything, what seemed 15 minutes away took me 40. After I figured out the heavy rush hour times I adjusted just nicely to the city!
