Today we’d like to introduce you to iB-Rease.
iB-Rease, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
From Ohio with love, I go by the name of iB-Rease, a DJ and Producer. Home is Cleveland but currently living in Los Angeles. I started out DJ’n 10 years ago while attending the University of Akron throwing house parties. Me and my homies always threw house parties and I provided the music through an ipod, and one day an idea sparked in my head about DJ’n a house party, so I did some research and came across virtual DJ at first. So I started practicing on that software doing more house parties and then I got asked to do a club gig which was coming up. So the party comes up and I’m super nervous because this is a big deal, I’m about to be in an actual club now with hundreds of people. All I remember is zoning out and transferring all my energy from the house parties to the club. A lot of homies came into town to watch me play and it turned out to be an amazing time. The club hit capacity and I got great feedback after the night ended, so I took that energy and decided I would invest in real DJ equipment. From there, I built my name on campus and became one of the go to DJ’s.
Fast forward, I graduate college with my Electronic Engineering degree and move to Columbus, OH for an engineering job, this is 2014. So I’m working this job and doing a little dj’n here and there since I’m new to the city trying to build my name up. 2016 comes around and by this time DJ’n picks up a lot and now I really start thinking to myself “this is go time, I need to start taking this more serious”. And that’s exactly what I do, building my name and resume up. I knew I didn’t want to live in Ohio forever so 2018 comes around and I take a trip to LA in December for a few days and not having any intentions, I signed a lease. It was a “take a jump” moment, which felt good, and I love the decision I made. So now I’m out in LA really here to live out my goals and dreams.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No way has this road been smooth. You really have to trust your craft and be patient with the journey. It’s a lot of time and work you have to put in but it’s well worth it. It’s not easy because it’s so much talent out there, but that’s the fun part because it’s more of a challenge. The struggles I faced most of the time and still are was being a new face. It’s all about making good relationships and making the people know who you are. My talent will speak for itself but it’s about getting noticed and getting them look.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a DJ and Producer. I’m known for always having great taste in music and being the go to guy for music. I have provided the soundtrack for events with Nike, Beats by Dre, 40oz Van, Sway in the Morning, Norma Now, Dash Radio, Remy Martin, Belvedere, Jameson, Avión, and many more clients. Really proud of making the transition to another coast, that has been a big highlight so far and excited to see where this journey takes me. What sets me apart from others is me just being me, staying true to myself. I pride myself on building and expanding an authentic brand while inspiring others to do the same. As a kid from the Midwest, I grew up listening to all coasts of music (east, west, south, etc..) so that definitely helped me have a better ear, and I know when it’s time to hit that stage I will give you a variety of vibes.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Music will always be here, it lives forever. And my plan is to continue staying in the music business, whether it’s DJ’n or producing. My goal within the next 5-10 years is to land some placement deals.
