Rising Stars: Meet Micah Glenn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Micah Glenn.

Hi Micah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, I was born in Detroit, Michigan – moved around a lot in high school and ended up graduating from a school right outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Ended up attending the University of New England and upon graduation moved to Los Angeles. Throughout all of the moving around and being in different environments though, I’ve always had a passion for clothing and wanted to make my mark in it. Luckily enough for me, the majority of the places I’ve been have had some form of mentorship and guidance in helping me navigate to the point where I could start my own thing.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Hasn’t been the smoothest of roads but it hasn’t been all bad as well. From figuring out product cost and trying to build a relationship with a factory to understanding how products should be ‘rolled out’, it’s all a learning experience. People often don’t understand how difficult it is to get people to move and buy something, and that’s something I had to learn as well. But overall, any obstacle that I’ve come across with my first release is essential for me to move smarter with future collections.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am the Founder and Creative Director for Late Night Drives. As a brand, we aim to bring a real feeling to clothing that seems to be missing. That’s where the name comes from; a feeling. Everyone has taken a meaningful Late Night Drive – whether you were arguing with your significant other and needed to clear your head, or you were headed for a night out with your closest friends, those Late Night Drives are priceless. Also, for me, the night time is the most honest portion of the day, which is why I wanted that feeling implemented in the brand as well. At night you’re typically going the places you want to go with the people you want to go there with. You’re not worrying about pleasing people who don’t matter to you, which often happens during the day – at night, you’re the real you. That’s Late Night Drives.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
Favorite childhood memory is probably all the AAU basketball trips I took growing up. I met so many people that I am still close too today through basketball and it’s crazy to see a good amount of people either in the NBA or playing overseas.
