Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian B. Aaron.
Hi Christian, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m simply an unapologetic follower of Christ. I am an author, motivational speaker, preacher, registered nurse, certified Wellness Coach and your biggest cheerleader! I am motivated and find my purpose by helping others RISE up from defeats, get closer to God, and discover self through empowerment. I am the product of a single parent mother who birthed four children by the age of 21. Growing up in the housing projects with an incarcerated father, I have always been determined to make a difference. While being raised in Birmingham, Alabama as the only girl of six brothers, I have always felt that it was my calling to help others in a nurturing and caring way. I went away to attend Howard University where I became the President of Chapel Assistant, the largest religious life organization on campus. After switching my major three times to discover my life’s purpose – I graduated with a degree in nursing, a field of bedside healing.
Upon graduation, I accepted a calling into ministry where I pursued a Masters of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary. After pursuing nursing and ministry simultaneously – I discovered a passion for Holistic Wellness. I then went on to found my own business called RISE Enterprises, a business helping others RISE holistically in mind, body, and spirit through Wellness Coaching, Consulting, speaking, and creating sacred space through events and retreats. I am multi-purposed as an entrepreneur, preacher, author, motivational speaker, wellness coach and nurse. I personally believe that we all are multi-purposed and it is my duty to help unearth the purposes of others. It is my life’s goal to help as many individuals RISE above their obstacles in order to become their best selves. I am also recently married to Matt Aaron, founder of Aaron Financial, who is an amazing man and motivator in my life who is not intimidated by my calling.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Rising above obstacles is no false reality to me. Being born and raised in the housing projects to a single parent mother in Birmingham, Alabama has equipped me to dream beyond the environments that surround me. To dream beyond stereotypes and to simply live the life that God has ordained for me to live. No matter the obstacle of life, I believe that we can overcome them all and I simply want others to believe the same. One of my most memorable obstacles was that upon graduating nursing school – it took me three times to pass my boards. During this time, I was loss and frustrated – and this experience taught me that a delay is not a denial. God was clear that I was to chase my purpose and not a profession – soon after this realization, I became a nurse. Another obstacle is being a young woman minister in a male dominated field, with my counterparts often being twice my age. Often times, I am the youngest and only woman in the room.
This experience has yielded me to be strong and confident in what the Lord has called me to do. It has also taught me a valuable trait of effective communication over intimidation. I truly believe that I am called to pave the way for other young girls coming after me – to show them what is possible when you say “yes” to God. Lastly, I have not come from a family with many resources and going to sleep to gunshots was my norm. Growing up, I encountered everything from the lights being off to no gas – but this has aided in my drive and motivation to stay focused and RISE above all that has been placed before me. My mother, a strong black woman refused to allow me to settle and prided herself in helping her children dream beyond the barriers of the projects. A family staple was going riding in affluent neighborhoods, claiming that some day we would have the same. Settling was never an option for my siblings and I.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My business is a holistic wellness platform that helps others identify ways they can live a holistically balanced life. The avenue in which this is accomplished is through Wellness Coaching, Education through seminars, motivation from preaching, motivational speaking, and curating sacred events. One of the factors that set me apart is that I do not sell others on a particular lifestyle or religion, I instead choose to practice it daily through the way I live. Many people reach out to me thanking me for my transparency and vulnerability as a preacher. Although I am on fire for God, I connect with others in a non-churchy authentic way – meeting people right where they are. I make wellness achievable and not overwhelming through listening and caring – and when my RISERS need a push – I am there to hold their hand. I help others get “unstuck” by discovering their why.
A timeless addition to my brand are two devotionals that I published called “Single is Not a Sin” and “RISE and Shine”, devotionals helping others to become their best self in Christ. I journey with others on how to become more balanced in nutrition, spirituality, and purpose – exuding love, passion, and care every step of the way. Even amongst wearing the many hats – I am an entrepreneur who is focused on origination and not duplication – if God says do it – I go, never feeling the need to explain myself to others. During COVID – I have hosted and organized over 25 live segments, panels or interviews – providing practicality to my followers. I have also hosted a retreat and recently announced a New Year Retreat being held January 9th, I believe that with purpose – we all can pivot. During such a time as this, my passion of encouragement and wellness has been needed more than ever.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
My mother always says that I was a sassy and at a very early age, I was coined the nickname “little momma” because I liked to lead the way. At age of four, when my mother asked my siblings and I what we wanted to be, I said, “A school bus, to carry people around.” Yes, that was impossible but my dreams of serving others and getting them to various destinations of life was planted and watered in that moment. I live to empower, inspire, and ignite the fire that is within all people. I have always been wise beyond my years – providing advice to adults even as a child. I was not your average girl – instead of playing with toys or dolls, I wanted to help in the kitchen to make things easier, provide shots to my grandmother on medication, plan the grocery meals and simplify difficulties. I never knew why my teachers, counselors, or principles treated me differently – but I thank them for affirming my young self.
As a self-starter – I remember vividly sitting in my home at the age of 11 writing down business ideas and plans that could get my family out of poverty. I recall as a High School freshman starting a Bible Club with my eldest brother because we desired all people to know Christ. Even at 13, I not only had organizational and visionary passion – but I simply wanted to teach, motivate, and inspire students and teachers to RISE in becoming their best whole selves. Through RISE, I have continued to serve my community through an annual scholarship, toy drives, and back to school drives. We must never forget to reach back as we RISE.
