Rising Stars: Meet Talo Silveyra

Today we’d like to introduce you to Talo Silveyra.

Talo, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a Writer-Director and Actor based in Los Angeles. I was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina in a family of artists: my mother (Graciela Stefani) is a very well-known actress, as well as my father (Anibal Silveyra) and my sister is an incredibly talented singer (Josefina Silveyra). I started my career as an actor and learnt from the best directors and cinematographers.

I then started filming my own short films and years later, I became a Director. My debut was a 15min story inspired by the story of my Nona (my grandma) and she also starred in the film. This was an incredibly satisfying experience for both of us, as well as a great opportunity for me to learn my craft. I then created Pocket Films, a groundbreaking platform streaming 1 minute short films and gained a lot of attention. This led me to close a deal with TNT Latin America and TURNER, to write, direct and produce a Micro-Series called “Tunnel Vision”.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road is always rocky in a way. The first step is having faith in your dream and believing that you can achieve it. One example was when I started writing and directing my own projects, I didn’t know if people were going to support me. But I found out that sharing it with the people you love is key. For me, the decision of moving to LA from Argentina was massive. But life always gives you signs if you choose to see them.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Writer-Director originally from Argentina, based in Los Angeles. I am known for being the creator of Pocket Films, a groundbreaking platform streaming 1 minute short films. I directed over 50 short films. I am also the Writer-Director and Producer of Tunnel Vision, the new upcoming Mini-Series for TNT Latin America. I am also an actor. I starred in many Feature Films and Stage Plays such as “Donkey” in “Shrek, The Musical”. I am also directing Noel Schajris’s new music videos. He is a very well known singer, former singer of Sin Bandera.

How do you think about happiness?
That’s a great question. Also, because that is the title of the short film I wrote inspired in my Nona. “Happiness” is the story of an 88 years old woman who, after losing her family on a car accident, decides to go on a journey looking for her first true love. I guess what makes me happy is sharing life with my family, with the ones I love, with my girlfriend Mica Racana, my sister, all the people I love.
