Today we’d like to introduce you to Tacquay Bradley.
Tacquay, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
If you can believe it or not I begin just gazing outside the window while on road trips with my grandparents that we took every summer. I would capture images with my eyes and would trip off of it and be like wow I’m literally taking photos with my eyes without an actual camera. I was 13 years old when I fall in love with photography. So as the years went by I pick up a camera begin Photographing and decided to study Photography when I graduated from high school and went off to college and attend California State University, Northridge where I received my Degree in Arts. I actually Learned the digital world of Photography at my previous job taking school portraits of elementary students all the way up to Seniors in High school because when I started it was all about film and the darkroom which I totally miss! So now I have my own business which is now growing and my goal is to one day own my actual studio and travel the world to document a project that I will begin working on soon!
Has it been a smooth road?
No its not been smooth road it has been a struggle along the way. I thought once I graduated from school I was going to get a job and have a successful career but that was not the case. I work at jobs that was not related to my dream had opportunities to have an intern at a popular movie company but didn’t get because of age discrimination but did some side jobs that related to my dream but it was not consistent. Then I actually landed a job that was all about Photography it had it’s up and up in the beginning but as the years went by they didn’t appreciate me the way I thought they should so I left. Throughout the years of working for the other company my business was still growing. I had to take a year off due to an accident and that stop me from working during that time but now business is growing and I gave Thanks to God for that because I am busier than I have ever been since the start of my photography journey.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
My company is known for professionalism and making sure my clients feel welcomed cared for and to give them actually what they ask for. I specialize in Weddings, Engagements, Maternity, Family Portraits, Senior Portraits, Event Photography, Headshots, & Boudoir portraits. I am actually known for pretty much everything! I would like to be known for weddings actually. I enjoy photographing them it’s a lot of work but I enjoy capturing the love you experience between the couple. I am most proud that I am taking a step out on my own doing this all alone without help of other photographers though I know as the days goes by I will need help from other photographers who is also starting their photo journey. What sets me apart from others is everybody eye is different looking though that view finder and each memory I capture I tried to make sure you can feel that very moment as if you were back there on that day as well. I like to make sure my clients feel they made the most ultimate decision on allowing me to capture their day of the photography.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I feel there is a lot of competition in Los Angeles in the photography world. But it takes time for a business to grow and as long as they don’t give up and keep striving their business will become successful.
