Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashlyn Davis.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Ashlyn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After today, before today, I wouldn’t know where to start. What matters most in what is present-day is where I see myself in the next 2-3 years, which is being recognized as one of the most diligent, transparent and lucid ‘Talent Agents.’ It wouldn’t be fair to you as it wouldn’t be to me if I said I came into full realization in middle school knowing that I was going to be an OB/GYN, but not ending up as one. I have always had this passion for creating and giving life but couldn’t fathom the order of how to execute it. It was JUST a handful of seasons back where I found that passion for serving others, but in a more profound, per say, creative and innovative manner.
From there, I searched for my “why,” and I came up with “Glow-up”. Let’s be honest, I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t find a more intriguing way to express the glow up or change, which then converted to “Lambency”. That exact expression now stems into my Non-profit artistry collective established and known as “House of Lambency”. The focus on that end is to continue to find innovative ways to create platforms for the underserved, untold, and eager artists’. Through the vehicle of fashion and art, my company and I scout and expose talent who yearn for more when it comes to expressing their untold motives. If you’re still wondering why someone like me specifically sought out the idea, you’re totally not wrong for wandering the thought! Throughout adolescence and the start of adulthood, I’ve consistently been turned down by companies/businesses who look for nearly established artists; I want to be the change in that industry by offering more understood communities for up and coming talent who strive for individual success versus systemized structures created by America.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The answer is no, and that is where some can find their peace. Achievements and awards were never planted to be easily obtained. If there is no struggle, there is no growth. I’ve struggled with minor factors, such as finding a team to collaborate and grow with. I have also found myself challenged with understanding and executing my focus. There were many times where I was lost because I’ve had tons of ideas to pitch but did not know where to go to put the plan to action. This is not to say that the struggles have challenged me to become discouraged but to be more aware of patience and clarity in my plan. If there are any essentials needed in such a plan of eagerness and production, it is patience and clarity to see it through. I can go on and on about the downfalls but here we have the gist of what it is to “fail” and persevere.
House of Lambency – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
House of Lambency serves as a local, diverse and forthcoming community that promotes the growth of self-identity rather than social prominence. Therefore, linking artists of distinct professions is the utmost purpose of our organization, as we value equality and fairness, offering assistance for innovative and goal-driven individuals. As the Executive Producer and CEO, my mission is to provide better support and linkage for underserved artists like myself. My company and I are significantly known for Fashion productions, collaborating with small businesses and individual entrepreneurs. This gift allows local artists to meet, network, and build for extended development in creating their own visions.
As a company and producer, we are most proud of our endurance to grow together in such a small space and being able to completely sell out for our very first Annual LA Production in 2018. What makes us stand out from others is that we are a team of young and educated individuals with different focuses in various industries around the world—from Theatre Arts/Acting, Art, Social/Criminal Justice, Fashion and Legal/Government Assistance which allows us to bring in unique ways of expressing our viewpoints.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Being genuine can be a very strong trait to inhabit in terms of long-term success. If you have a true passion for what you believe in, all is impossible. But, when you force yourself to do things you aren’t genuine about, the chances are that it’s not going to be beneficial for you long-term.
