Meet Nevaeh Smith of Timeless Beauty in Oceanside

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nevaeh Smith.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Nevaeh. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am 18 years old. I have always had a passion for doing hair since I was about five years old. When I was about 13 years old, I started to go to different hair salons and watch the stylist work. I would be there for hours trying to learn new techniques and get a feel for the beauty industry. After sitting at the salons, I would go home and practice on myself, my sister, my mom, or the mannequin head I had. At the age of 16 years old, I got my braiding license and became more serious about my craft. At this time, I started to assist stylists in salons to get more of a hands-on experience. I assisted for about two years and finally got my own salon suite at the age of 18, two weeks before graduation! This was a huge milestone for me because I never thought I could accomplish something like that at such a young age. Now I am married to my wonderful husband and based in California. I am taking on a new aspect of the beauty world and I am so excited to start this new journey!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. Building up a steady clientele was one of the hardest things to do. I’m young so people were hesitant to book with me because I didn’t have as much experience as other stylists. There were so many times I wanted to give up because my business wasn’t as successful as I had visioned. I’ve also had a lot of people that I thought would support me in this journey that hasn’t. It has been an emotional roller coaster but 100% worth it.

Please tell us about Timeless Beauty.
Timeless Beauty By Denay is all things beauty! While I love doing hair, the whole beauty industry has always caught my attention, from nails to fashion. I specialize in wig units and will soon be expanding to the cosmetic and fashion part of the industry. I am most known for my wig units, braids, and professionalism. I am proud of every aspect of my company. Being able to build a brand at such a young age and have the support system that I have is amazing. I am ahead of a lot of individuals that I graduated with and that makes me proud. I think my drive, passion, personality and professionalism sets me apart from others. My clients always say they love my professionalism and my personality!

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from my childhood was making my mom and grandma sit down on the couch so I could do their hair. I would put so many rubber bands and bows in their hair! It was always something I enjoyed and I always loved the outcome.
