Today we’d like to introduce you to Brendan Cave (B.Cave).
Brendan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a Hip-Hop artist, producer and CEO of Booming Bay Management Group. I grew up in a suburban town in South Shore, MA called Middleboro. I have a very musical family so I’ve been surrounded by live music and people that are passionate about it my whole life. I was mainly focused on baseball throughout high school and even played freshman year of college, but after that season was the first time I started making beats and the passion for music took over. From then on, I dedicated the rest of my time at the University of Tampa to my craft, while also studying business. After graduating in May 2019, with a degree in Entrepreneurship, I decided to take music to the next level and moved out to Los Angeles to attend Cre8 Music Academy, a small music production program in West Hollywood. Very briefly, after moving to California did I realize that this is exactly where I need to be. I began my journey focused on being a producer, but after a year or two of experimenting with rap and creating my own music, I realized that is what I really want to pursue.
So now having somewhat of a path in line, my entrepreneurial mind kicked in and I came up with concept of creating my management company, Booming Bay. Having met a team of extremely talented individuals through Exposed Culture (a collective formed in my home town by my close friend Jaymes Carey) I wanted to find a way to project us to the next level. I had already begun managing T-Cap; a long time friend that has extreme talent and potential as both a rapper and a producer, but now having realized I wanted to be an artist myself, I wanted to create something that could benefit us both in the same way. Thus, Booming Bay was formed. My goal with BB is to create a management team to focus on the success and projection of the careers of the artists that I already have around me, including myself. I’ve been blessed enough to have met and been able to work so closely with my team of musicians, so I wanted to create something that can really set up a structure and strategy for all of us to be able to reach new heights. Booming Bay is still in its early stages, but I have managed to create a small management team that is focused on the targets at hand. My manager, Casey Tucker, is one of my best friends and he’s been saying for years that he’s going to manage me when I blow up, so I figured we might as well get a head start and made him the head of my management team.
As far as music goes, I am currently in the rollout stages of my project ‘The Scenic Route,’ where I have been releasing singles and videos throughout the month of August, leading up to a September 3rd release. This project is a collection of chill summer vibes created within the last month and a half, with many characteristics of love throughout. Fully produced and mixed by myself and Max Mitchell, mastered by Big Jerm. Lots of content coming along with that, then be ready for another EP closer to wintertime.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has definitely been rocky, but I can’t say that I haven’t been enjoying the journey. I originally moved out to Los Angeles by myself and lived in a hostile with 34 other people for my first six months here. Man, I had some tough days in that hostile and struggled mentally for a lot of that time, but it taught me a lot about myself and allowed me to make some connections that I still value to this day. Now, 2020 is a whole different animal LOL. The year started amazing, having had two of my hometown producer friends move out to Los Angeles and we all got a house together. Things were going good until 2-3 months in the COVID outbreak hit. I got laid off of my part-time valet gig and one of my roommates ended up moving out. Now with my other roommate still working 40 hours a week, I was left in quarantine basically by myself. I spent about two months without leaving the house, and I can honestly say it was one of the toughest times mentally that I’ve had to deal with. I suffer from severe anxiety, and with that being alone is something I am seriously not fond of to begin with. Thankfully, I got to take a trip home to MA to reset for about a month and came back fresh in July. Since then, I’ve been working tirelessly on this project while also forming my management company at the same time. It has been a lot of work for sure, but I’m optimistic it will all pay off in the end.
Please tell us about Booming Bay.
Booming Bay is a management group focused on projecting the careers of our music artists/producers to the next level. We are still in start-up phases, but I have built a team of business-minded individuals that are passionate about the music business and want to be apart of this journey. Through creative strategies, marketing techniques and bullish persistence, I believe my team is going to be able to break through the mold at some point sooner than later.
I have been working alongside an extremely talented group of musicians, all having come from the same area of MA, and I just really want to build something that is going to benefit us all in the long run. I pride myself on being passionate about both sides, the music and the business, so I figured who better to get this thing going. I have also always wanted to own a business and be a CEO so I’m really proud to have this opportunity to work with such talented people and fulfill my dreams at the same time.
What sets us apart is the team itself and how we all grew up in the same area. I have actually known most of these guys since elementary school, so we really have a bond that we all hold dearly. On the music side alone, we have numerous producers, musicians, rappers, singers, and designers, all talented enough for the spotlight. We just haven’t gotten the exposure this group deserves yet. I like to think of ourselves as the ‘best kept secret’, just waiting for the day that right person discovers us, or the right song blows up and sends all of our careers into the atmosphere. I’m okay with being the underdog for now because it just gives us more time to perfect our craft, but our time is coming, believe me. 🙂
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Honestly, I am a pretty firm believer in “everything happens for a reason.” I believe in manifestation and the belief that the universe will bring around to you what you care to seek out. So, with that said, nothing. I am happy with where I’m at in this journey and believe that if anything were done differently, it could have set me on a completely different path. Although, I do wish that I had started producing and creating music at a younger age, but that is really it.
