Today we’d like to introduce you to Tim Realbuto.
Tim, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started acting when I was five years old in community theatre. I did my first film when I was 12 years old, which happened to be directed by Woody Allen. When I was 16, I appeared on screen opposite Kevin Kline in “The Emperor’s Club.”
I then went to college and studied acting. After school, I continued doing work on film, television and in the theatre. I also began writing and co-wrote a musical called “Ghostlight.”
Then I wrote a play called “Yes”, which played Off-Broadway in NYC. That play was turned into a film and it was my first leading role in a motion picture.
I now teach, act, and write and spend my time hopping between Los Angeles and New York City.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We all struggle. This business has a few extra hurdles than others. I’ve been so close to getting a role and then at the last minute been told I wasn’t the one. All of that rejection hurts at first, but you learn to get a thicker skin as the years go on.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
My business is myself. I’m proud of it because I’ve been able to accomplish a lot of things in my 35 years on earth. What separates me from other businesses is the fact that only I can offer what I have to give. There’s only one of you in this world.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am in preproduction for a life-changing film. It’s an amazing role with an amazing cast and I really can’t wait to get started. I’m crossing my fingers that everything goes smoothly. I can’t talk much about it except to say that it’s a movie about redemption found through the sport of boxing.
