Meet Tina Callas of Tina’s Trees and Tina’s Pumpkin Patch in Sherman Oaks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Callas.

Tina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In 1977, my husband and I started a small tree lot on Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks. In those days, we would go get small loads of trees from the wholesale yards in downtown Los Angeles. Although we had to change locations a few times, our business continued to grow over the years. Now we get direct truckloads of trees from Oregon. Around twenty years ago we added the Pumpkin Patch, which has grown as Halloween became bigger and bigger!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Location! After the first few years of changing lots, we had a great location in Sherman Oaks for 25 years. This location was then developed into apartments, retail and dining. We moved to our current location on Sepulveda Blvd. near the Sherman Oaks Galleria. This lot has proved to be an excellent spot with lots of parking and easy access, however, it too will be developed and we will need to find a new location.

So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Tina’s Trees and Tina’s Pumpkin Patch story. Tell us more about the business.
Tina’s Trees is known for fresh, quality Christmas trees. We get several loads of trees, spaced out every few days during the season. Our grower cuts the trees just prior to loading so the trees are fresh.

We are proud to provide great customer service. Even though we are a seasonal business, many employees come back year after year. We want our customers to have a positive tree buying experience, which we do our best to provide. I am happy when my customers tell me they love their tree!

Tina’s Pumpkin Patch is a family friendly environment, great for younger children. We have pony rides, petting zoo, train, jumpers, slide and straw maze. We also have a great party area for groups.
