Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Lubliner.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Hannah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born with a genetic bone disease – Osteogenesis Imperfecta, which basically means that I have very brittle bones. Growing up I was constantly sick and breaking things, I had eight surgeries before I was even diagnosed with Late Stage Chronic Lyme Disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, heavy metal poisoning, and several other co-infections.
My health started rapidly declining, so as an emergency / last resort, I spent three months receiving treatment in Mexico. I wasn’t able to receive the full treatment there because I started having up to 75 seizures a day. I needed to get back to LA so I could connect with my doctors and create a new plan of attack, a friend flew out to bring me back and it was a journey getting through the airport while having seizures… let me tell you! I made it back, met with my psychologist, connected with a new Lyme doctor out of San Diego, met with a hypnotherapist (where we saw amazing results – think four weeks NO SEIZURES), and am now truly starting to make some progress BUT I am still incredibly sick, and in some ways almost sicker. I look healthy. I look like a “normal girl” but I have so many diseases and even co-infections that can’t be seen just looking at me. Some days I still have seizures, am bedridden, am in severe pain, among many other debilitating symptoms.
But I am so thankful for my community and the support that has rallied around me via social media; models, photographers, creators who have been so supportive during my health battle. I’ve been modeling for the last five years or so, and the amazing community that has come along with that is incredible. Being able to create is an escape and like I’m able to express a part of who I am. Being able to create is something that brings me so much joy; I love the whole process. Set, directing, styling, not even just modeling. I love the collaboration and working with a team. I love it all.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road; it’s been a long and very trying process that has tested my mental, emotional, and physical well-being. The health issues are the obvious stressor, but with that also still trying to create and feel like my normal self. I come from a very Conservative family so the lack of support from my family (in terms of content creating and modeling) has been difficult but I still am going after what I love regardless. Modeling and creating makes me so happy and I know I need to chase and speak my truth.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m a model, influencer, content creator – basically, I’m an artist. I’m very transparent and vocal about my struggles via my social media platforms because I want people to know who I am; more than just the pretty photos and cool brand collaborations. I believe in empowering other women and claiming my sexuality. I am passionate about creating, so I love coming beside brands to create content that works for both of us!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I look forward to getting healthy, starting a swimsuit company, being able to travel and shoot for my own brand. I look forward to establishing a solid business, being able to support and help others, open up a clinic for people who face illnesses similar to mine; specifically, patients who have a hard time getting diagnosed as I was. I look forward to paying it forward. To making an impact and a change in the lives of others.
