Meet Melinda Markulis of Lindy Glow in North Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melinda Markulis.

Melinda, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m was born in Honolulu Hawaii on an Air Force base. I traveled as a baby with my family to places like Greenland, Iceland, Norway, London. My father was a Colonel and Pilot in the Air Force. So, the free-flowing travelers’ life was the normal way of life for me. At four years old, I lost my mother to schizophrenia. So, my family and I settled down in Buffalo New York where I continued my schooling and childhood. My parents provided me with Piano lessons, Gymnastic lessons and Dance Classes. An also was an excellent sprinter amongst other track and field events. In 7th grade I was put in the High School Varsity four by one. The older kids were extremely intimidating to me, so my track and field days remained with my peers. Dance was always my love of life. I never went to therapy, even though looking back I should have. But luckily dance was my therapy. The Dance Studio I attended “Future Dance Center” brought light into my life. It was a safe space for people to be who they were. Allowing all colors of light to shine in their own way. Different was the normal. It was an amazing sensation of home. I continued my dance training on a slightly more serious level once I entered into their Company. Traveling and competing. Training for at least 3-4 hours a day.

While my training was getting more serious so were my intentions. When I was around 18, I was set up with a mother agent in Canada “Geoffrey Chapman”. There I began to learn about the modeling world. He set me up with auditions, jobs, taught me how to pose, what a portfolio was. That was the beginning of what I knew was going to be the path for my life. Geoffrey took me to New York, where I got sign to my first Modeling Agency MMG. I also won an acting scholarship that took me to Los Angeles to train in acting. I was one or two girls that got picked out of 3,000 girls. It truly was one of the most special moments of my life. Once in Los Angeles I instantly feel in love. After my scholarship was complete, I went back to buffalo and bought a one-way ticket for the end of that same year. Packed my car, shipped it on a big truck, put myself on a flight and ended up in Los Angeles. While I was here, I lost the lust of Modeling. It was much more special of a career while in NYC. Los Angeles, I knew was meant for a new journey. Dancing was the only thing I wanted to accomplish. I crashed every open call and audition there was. I went to every Agency open call with the hopes of getting signed.

On the night before my 22nd Birthday I finally got the Email that I was signed to MSA. One of the largest dancing agencies in Los Angeles. My heart exploded! I was so proud of myself. I worked so hard and to see my accomplishments come full circle, it was like a fairy tale. I’ve worked for Tiffany and Co, World of Dance, Old Navy, Target, State Farm and so many other wonderful companies and productions. My journey in the entertainment industry has been exciting and magical. I will never fully walk away from it, but at the current moment in my life I am pursuing a new path. I have created a hormone lifestyle brand called Lindy Glow. I help woman understand their bodies so they can successfully achieve whatever goal they would like. That being health, wealth, career, fitness, mental. I focus on our Infradian Rhythm aka our biological development of hormones for our menstrual cycle. It is an amazing tool that we aren’t educated on, and honestly our scientific medicine hardly studies. This passion is all because of my mother. Mental health is a topic that is so taboo, yet almost everyone experiences. Anxiety, depression, Mood Swings, Stress, Bi Polar, Schizophrenia, these are all mental issues. My entire life journey has lead me to this path. I love helping other woman in the industry Find Their Glow. Healing and Helping is now my passion.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Losing my mother to suicide has always been a struggle. Growing up without a mother has created a large amount of sadness in my life. I’ve always felt there was something missing. My confidence was affected by it. I also find myself lacking love because of it.

Please tell us about your business.
Lindy Glow is a Hormone Lifestyle Brand. I help educate woman and girls about their reproductive system and how the hormonal development affects the entire body. We are extremely complex species, with that needs to come a lot of self-awareness and education that we typically aren’t given. Lindy Glow gives life a new meaning. PMS isn’t the “normal” Body image is about who you genetically are built to be. The lifestyle I’ve created is also uniquely developed to the lifestyle that you’ve created for yourself. So, this method isn’t about taking on what I give you, but rather eliminated and adding what is needed and not needed in your lifestyle. I find such joy working one on one with woman. Seeing their success makes me feel like I’ve succeeded.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am planning a lot of travel in my future. I am thinking of living outside of the states for part of the year. Lindy Glow is a company I can work at anywhere in the world. I also plan on developing more into production and acting as I get older. My dancer model days are slowly getting hung up. And my next adventure in the entertainment world will be much more hands on in the creative side.
