Meet Royse

Today we’d like to introduce you to Royse.

Royse, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I wake up every day grateful of my journey and that I get to pursue my passion of music. Music has helped me heal through self-hatred and self-worth. My first debut album was basically one big therapy session that helped me overcome a lot of challenges. I currently have released only pop music, but I am working on a new type of style that is taking me back to my roots that I am super excited to release. I love that creativity and art grows along right beside the artist.

Has it been a smooth road?
No it has not. Art is never a smooth road, but that’s what makes it so beautiful. You can look back and say I went through that to get to this place. One of my most recent singles is titled, Heavy Lies the Crown, and I wrote this song, to my younger self who struggled with an eating disorder. It also, is a love song to my aunt, who passed away from complications of an eating disorder. I hope that my music can empower people who have struggled in the same way that I have.

Please tell us about your music.
I feel like I am best known for my style of voice, and I am glad that I get to sing as a career.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the nature and hiking in LA along with the people that I feel are so accepting. I have a hard time with the traffic in LA, and my heart breaks for the growing homeless population in our city. I hope there is a way that we can help more.
