Meet Jaromir Kurty of Plumpy in Orange

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaromir Kurty.

Originally from Svidnik, Slovakia. Jaromir Kurty was ten years old when his family relocated to Chicago where he quickly learned English and was introduced to the city’s hip-hop scene. He began producing when he was sixteen years old and worked on a number of projects before launching plumpy in 2018. With the goal of getting people on their feet and celebrating, plumpy’s sets are characterized by bussing 808s with “plumped” re-imaginations of global hits. Central European influences punctuate his experimental style to bring a new take on electronic music.

During a very successful pool party show at The Mondrian, Los Angeles in 2017. Plumpy collaborated with his best friend Très Mortimer to create a beaming record, BAMBU. BAMBU caught the attention of Diplo, who signed it to his label, Mad Decent. Diplo premiered BAMBU during Burning Man 2018 which ignited both of their careers. With over seven years of show experience both domestic and international and a sold-out 4/20 show at LA’s Exchange nightclub, Plumpy is projected to head north.

Has it been a smooth road?
As smooth as LA gets hehe. You have to come and experience it to learn from it.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
Plumpy is the alter ego for Jaromir Kurty. Jaromir Kurty is a record producer from Slovakia living in Los Angeles that has worked on a number of projects including co-productions and ghost production for multiple top rising artists and labels. Jaromir Kurty has played shows from Tomorrowland to Lollapalooza to touring a 5.5 week Budweiser sponsored tour in China to crafting a dance/pop hit record with Chinese pop star Jane Zhang for a Budweiser commercial campaign.

Proud of being me and focusing on my craft to bring others joy by getting them up on their feet. Music is our universal language and if it does not go with the words, it goes with the sound. If I can help one person with my music in some way, its all worth it to me but mostly as long as I’m happy releasing the music that I love then thats best there is.

I welcome all my listeners with beaming energy and optimism.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
LA is great for meeting people and for ripping your wallet sideways.. you do NOT need to be in LA if you want to be successful. In the end, it’s your craft that will do the talking. Just be a good person and have zero expectations. Take every meeting you get no matter how big or small. You never know who knows who and if you’re a good person and don’t expect shit then things will just come your way eventually IF you’re working your ass off. LA is great in a sense that everyone around you is hustling, so it keeps you juiced and going but if you’re not working your ass off there is always someone behind you that wants what you do even more.
