Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawana Ward.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Shawana. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Pre’Dominantly Love sprung from my love of helping people, my passion for mental health, growth and healing, and my love and fascination of Youtube. Writing has always been a passion of mine, and when blogging came about it just seemed inevitable for me to get my writings out before they hit the book thats coming into play. Somehow all three segments collided and now present day, Pre’Dominantly love has become a motivational hub of real life, healing, and of course, all things LOVE. We aim to help others search the depths of their beings to be able to one day reach their highest potential.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road here has not been easy at all. As someone who aims to heal, one has to be aware of their own trauma and inner healing, first and foremost. Moreover being a writer and motivational speaker, it takes a certain level of vulnerability and transparency to get to a point where you’re sensitive enough to empathize for other’s without judgement, all the while, knowing your own boundaries and limits. Translating this to visuals, audio, and templates that capture other’s attention became another task. Moreover, learning algorithms, how to build an audience and creating sites and opportunities that help solidify your name, was a beast within itself, still is. Simply put, being a creative is something we don’t ask for, is constantly changing and evolving, and learning to bottle and divulge it all proportionally is HARD. It’s well worth the struggle when I receive messages that people look forward to my post and writings everyday, that no matter the day and time, I always know just what to say, and that they feel changed when they follow my advice. I love how beautifully and organically Pre’Dominantly Love is expanding and I can’t for you all to see what’s in store next!
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Pre’Dominantly Love is a hub of healing and transformation. Through published writings, blogging, vlogs, speaking engagements, and merchandise I aim to spread knowledge and life hacks geared towards self-help, self-care, mental health, and spiritual awakening. I don’t follow the status quo or allow life to just happen.
I am most proud of the community Pre’Dominantly Love has attracted and helped this far.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always the encouraging and motivating child. My mother had a rule that we were not allowed to be outdoors while there was no adult supervision home, but somehow I’d try to use my inner humanitarian to get around this. She’d come home some days and I’d be sitting in the backyard with younger children surrounding me as I read to them. I even compiled my own community service group at the age of 7, where we walked around the streets of Norfolk picking up trash. Our chant was, “Don’t be a litter bug, pick up your trash!” I’ll never forget it.
I remained a social butterfly up until college, always dragging my peers out of the dumps and into the nightlife to have a good time, all the while studying psychology and human services. Even then, I was helping to shift mindsets and moods and didn’t realize it.
I guess it’s true what they say about getting back to your childhood, because current day I am co-founder and VP of a nonprofit Organization “Extract Attract Incorporated,” I am traveling to engage in speaking engagements, and my first book is on its way! Everything came full circle.
