Meet Kaitlyn Watsabaugh of Hija del Sol Psychic + Spirit Services in North East LA and Pasadena

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlyn Watsabaugh.

Kaitlyn, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a psychic medium, spiritualist, tarot reader, and bruja from the San Gabriel Valley. I have always identified as a witch, back to my earliest memories. My connection to spiritualism, witchcraft, and the occult is something that I was born into. My father was from Cuba, and though he was a devout Catholic, he was also very much a spiritualist and a lover of all things occult. My mother is a nurse, a natural healer, and an empath. I have spent over a decade pursuing a career in the apparel industry, and throughout that time I read tarot and performed spells and rituals for friends who knew about my “secret.” After much encouragement from my husband, I decided to become more open about my practices and began reading tarot professionally in 2016. I have spent the years since then growing and evolving my abilities, my offerings, and my business. While tarot is still a cornerstone of my practice, my offerings now include seances, workshops, mentorships, and ritual cleansings.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road is always the most challenging when I am choosing to disregard the advice and warnings of my spirits. For a few years, while working for a wealthy couple, I had completely turned myself off to spirit and turned my focus to the dollar. All of my attention and energy and time was going into building someone else’s dream for them, and hoping that the wealth would trickle down to me eventually. Every choice that I made while working for that company was far from divinely inspired, leading me further and further from my true purpose. My calling is to be of service to my family, to my community, and to spirit. My calling is to destroy the patriarchy, to uproot and overthrow capitalism, and to dismantle the white supremacy through my spiritual labor. It’s easy to get distracted by the promise of a dollar, but when we trust in spirit, we are always provided for.

Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
Hija del Sol Psychic + Spirit Services is the name I operate under. I am an espiritista, or spiritualist, which, to put very simply, means that I believe the living are constantly in communion with the dead. As a medium, I specialize in connecting the living with the spirit world. My work can be divided into two groups: spiritual guidance, and seance. Spiritual guidance consists of tarot readings and Sol Sessions, during which I open the channel up to the spirits, guides, and ancestors of my client, and give my client the opportunity to ask questions and receive guidance, affirmation, resonance, and clarity from their spirit team. I guide clients through business, spirituality, relationships, personal growth, family stuff, everything!

Seance is for opening up the table to the spirits, allowing them to come through and communicate their messages directly to the client. Seance can be done openly, inviting any spirits who would like to come through to communicate, or it can be done to connect with a specific spirit or entity.

I am known for how clearly the spirits speak through me to my clients, and how warm, welcoming, and comforting I am in delivering the messages, no matter how difficult the content may be.

I think that most people have this concept of witches and spiritual workers as two different entities. Like a witch is one who works in the shadows, wears a cloak black as night, dances with the devil. A spiritual worker to many is the opposite, saintly, humble, void of all ego and desire for pleasures of the flesh. My very existence challenges these stereotypes because I encompass so many parts of both. I am a spirit worker, I wear only white (no black for this bruja). I am a servant of the divine. But I am also a bruja, a witch, a human being who loves color and vibrance and sex and sensuality and excitement. All of these things can exist within us, and I like using social media and the way I decorate my body to show this to people.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Last Fall I launched a workshop called Into the Veil. It is for developing your own psychic medium abilities, growing and nurturing the connection between you and your spirits. Seeing my client’s own natural abilities flourish before me, receiving messages and emails about their success in communicating with spirit has been my proudest moment thus far. Ultimately, I am in this to be of service, and I feel that teaching and sharing what I know is such a beautiful way to do that.
