Meet Jeremy McBryde

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy McBryde.

Can you briefly walk us through your story?
Born and raised in Cleveland Hts, Ohio. Move to LA about 11 years ago. I originally came out here for school but find myself and a lot of other things. I’ve done everything from being a bouncer at a downtown bar such as Windell and Big Wangs to even do commercial acting and starring in the Internet web series which gained a cult-like following Call that guy. This is definitely some shit I thought I would never do. Food is always been my passion but it never really seems like an actual possibility. I’ve literally been cooking since I was seven years old, no culinary training just watching my pops show me everything I need to know. I found myself in the culinary world after I catered an event in which I met my business partner and strategist Mark Walker.

Based on the reactions of everyone who is eating, he asked me what I was trying to do with my concept. Our vision is aligned with the idea of late-night eating in downtown LA. He had access to a kitchen space, I have the concepts and the menu and three weeks later, comfort LA was born. We started off as a pop-up in March 2015, rocked that for ten months and we were able to open our first full-time location ten months later. From there, we started that action food truck and recently just open a second location in Inglewood, California. I don’t like to name drop but I’ve catered for the likes of LeBron James, Kevin Hart, and the late great Nipsey Hussle just to name a few. We’ve established relationships with large brands such as Kroger‘s, the NBA mothers association and Southwest. Comfort LA was built on love started in the heart of Skid Row. But it doesn’t matter who you are, everyone has treated the same, no typical pretentious LA shit, I want everyone to feel like family every time they pull up. I’m just trying to be a staple in the community and help motivate and inspire as many people as you humanly possible while I’m here. It’s enough darkness in the world just trying to balance it out with some light, it doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from, if you identify a goal and want to really do it, believe you can do it, know you can do it, that shit will happen, I promise.

What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I’m a Flavor Finessa, NOT A CHEF. I have an uncanny ability to understand and recreate flavors with no formal training at all. My father was the oldest of 11. I have just been watching him since I was seven. It ain’t on ya, it’s in ya. Honestly, don’t know how I can re-create the flavors that I do, I’ll just give a shout out to my ancestors. The overall message of my food is love. Who has the ability to bring people together like nothing else the food you can’t live, so it’s a must that is created and consumed in love.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support you?
