Today we’d like to introduce you to Dini Klein.
Dini, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m a food host, recipe developer, former private chef, creative junkie, wife, and mama to adorable (and super energetic) little girls with another babe on the way in January!
I started my professional career in fashion and quickly found that creative outlet in food. After working as a private chef for seven years, I found a solution to a problem many families (including my own) were facing. Getting a wholesome dinner on the table while I was working full-time was almost impossible and I needed a solution. Prep + Rally was born.
Creating food content is another passion of mine and I’ve worked with brands such as Walmart, Starbucks, Weight Watchers, Popsugar, Barilla, and more. I’m a Tastemaker on Tastemade where I develop food videos, and recipes for their social channels, and have my videos featured on Roku, Amazon, and Apple TV. My recipes have been published in cookbooks such as Starbuck’s Coffee, Dawn to Dusk, and Pediatricians Guide to Feeding Babies and Toddlers. Some of my live TV experience has been on KTLA, The Hallmark Channel, KSDK, and The CW.
I truly love what I do and am incredibly passionate about my work. Don’t get me wrong, it truly is non-stop and exhausting running a business single-handedly and raising a family, but the work is so rewarding knowing I am helping thousands of busy mamas (like myself) get through the busy week with ease!
Has it been a smooth road?
I think any entrepreneur that tells you their journey has been seamless and smooth isn’t telling the truth. Running your own business requires you to know everything about everything. You suddenly need to be a specialist in marketing, social media, customer service, Photography, videography, SEO, logistics, and the list goes on. There is honestly no end to the amount you could or should do on a daily basis so that is what’s always been hard for me. Simply knowing when to put the phone or computer down and watch a movie to zone out for a minute is incredibly necessary, and something I don’t do often enough. You always need to make time for yourself and not always be in work mode. It’s truly a fine balance.
Another one of my biggest struggles has been growing a team. Going from running a business completely on your own to all of the sudden hiring and outsourcing is a truly overwhelming and scary endeavor. Your business is your baby and you know it best. Nobody else will ever care as much about it as you do so finding the right people who are committed, want the best for you and the company, want to grow with you, and have the credentials you need is tough to find. I am also an incredibly hard worker and visionary. I never saw myself as a CEO rather I came up with a super unique system and filled a need with my service which sort of put me in a CEO position. I never liked delegating, hiring and firing, etc. but instead like to tackle things on my own. That’s obviously not a way to grow a business so that’s been something I’ve been working on and trying to overcome. We’re getting there!!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Prep and Rally – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Prep and Rally is a family-friendly meal prep subscription system. We take the Sunday Meal prep game to a whole new level. Each week, we give busy families unique, easy to follow, affordable, and flavorful recipes (generally eight or so) that break down into four unique, quick assembled meals for the week. The Sunday prep only takes about an hour and dinners take 2-10 minutes to get on the table Monday through Thursday. Most meal prep plans out there have you making a few dishes that you portion out for dinners to get you through the week but my issue is that you’re eating the same meal every single night.
My creative meal plans are designed to give you a completely new dinner every night utilizing some basic staples from the Sunday prep so you reduce food boredom, you can please all eaters, save time cooking throughout the week, and save major money!
As a working mom, I needed a solution to the constant “what’s for dinner?” stress, and dinner prep time commitment. Prep and Rally was my unique and creative solution that is now guiding thousands of families through their busy week!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the L.A. weather. I mean, how could you not? Every day of the year you can be outdoors, active, and enjoy the sunshine! Weather alone makes me an overall happier person! I especially love being here with a growing family as we can be outdoors and not feel cooped inside 50% of the year like we felt in New York!
The prices are the worst part about L.A…..Hopefully, we’ll be able to buy a house in the area we want to live in at some point but until then we keep on renting and hustling 🙂
