Meet Viveca Jensen of Piloxing in Burbank

Today we’d like to introduce you to Viveca Jensen.

Viveca, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I spent my whole life working within the areas of dance and fitness. I love to explore ways to train smarter and better. I came to Los Angeles from my home country, Sweden, as a professional dancer – educated at the Ballet Academy in Stockholm. After several years working in the dance studio, my career ended due to an injury. Using Pilates as my form of rehabilitation, I fell in love with this unique technique, and today I have my own Pilates studio. This gave me the opportunity to work with people from all walks of life, from professional athletes to moms and Hollywood celebrities. But it didn’t stop there. I also train with a Championship boxing coach numerous times a week, because I love the power, strength and focus that boxing brings.

My big revelation was in 2009 when I combined my three favorite exercises into one unique, effective and fun workout. I had the winning formula – Piloxing was born! Today, Piloxing is present in 90 countries worldwide and 1.5 people are participating in Piloxing classes daily.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting up a small business is not always easy, and we have encountered many bumps on the road. However, perseverance and passion for what I do has motivated me to move forwards although there have been multiple obstacles along the way. Growing a worldwide business being a female leader with my two partners, also female, in a male dominated industry can sometimes be challenging. Another challenge is to be in the group fitness space, an area of the fitness industry that has been put on the back burner. However, group fitness is an area that I feel is important, because over 90% of the class participants are women.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Piloxing – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We started from with a very small business and today, six years later, we are present in 90 countries worldwide. Piloxing is the first world-renowned fusion fitness concept entering the group exercise space. I am mostly proud of the fact that I have figured out how to run an international business. What sets us apart from other fitness brand is that our company is run by three women.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We have big plans for the future of Piloxing, and we are excited to follow the ever-changing group fitness trends and remain leaders of the fusion fitness format. We are are looking forward to finding ways to impact even more people and spread the word of Piloxing to change peoples’ lives.
