Today we’d like to introduce you to Reante’ Brown.
Reante’, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I find this to be very interesting because my journey has been a combination of adventurous, rewarding, and challenging ventures. I am originally from Cleveland, Ohio and I came from a very strong and solid family. I was raised by three strong, smart and powerful women (Mother, Aunt, Grandmother) that groomed me into being a wholesome person. I was taught to do all things and to never settle for less. Also, I came from a spiritual background that helped shape me into being a positive and influential individual. I did not have my father in my life, but this issue did not stop me from being a great person. Although I was raised by three women, I had to teach myself to be the man that I am today. I invested into myself by being an Alpha individual and an overachiever in high school, college, and now graduate school. I was an honors student and accomplished several accolades and honors societies such as National Honors Society, Alpha Lambda Honors Society and currently in my graduate school MBA program National Society Leaders and Success. I ran several organizations within my years of school and became the first Black male individual to become Student Council President in both high school and college. I graduated from Villa Angela St. Joseph High school denoted with honors and I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in Public Relations with a minor in International Business. I am currently in graduate school at Southern New Hampshire University with a 4.0-grade point average. I was very popular in all my years of school. So, I continued my excellence by winning homecoming both in high school and college and being the first Black male to do so. I have broken many barriers for men of color. In continuance, I studied abroad in Paris, France back in my undergraduate program and this adventure is what opened my eyes for my future. I experienced high anxiety and depression once I graduated from my undergraduate program because I deemed overqualified for every career I applied for. I experienced so much adversity for being openly gay, educated, feminine, gendered fluid, and attractive that it was hard for me to get promoted for any job. In the same way, I experienced so much jealousy from both my peers and colleagues because I well qualified and that I wanted better for my life. Nevertheless, I humbled myself and worked for several minimum wage jobs to make ends meet to reach my highest purpose. Several of my co-workers and peers were always saying to me that I belonged in California and New York City because I was talented and very beautiful to them. After being told that from every co-worker and peer of mine, I gained the courage to create a Go-Fund me to help me and my mom move to California. I moved to California in July 2016 and I have accomplished so much. I have booked several roles for Snapchat such as Parental Guidance, My Ex BFF Court, and NBC Universal How Low Will You Go. I have been and expected to be on television networks such as CBS, TV One, E! Entertainment. I have hosted on the red carpets and I am now working on my own business. I am currently reconstructing my Youtube Channel @UltimateBoygirl to discuss holistic health, beauty, and personal vlogging. In concluding, I am an actor, model, beauty influencer, youtube vlogger, and business entrepreneur.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a mixture or smooth and challenging due to lack of support from my peers, friends and some family members. I have experienced so much jealousy growing up that it made it hard for me to befriend and trust anyone. It was to the point that I could not share any good news because I did not think anyone would be happy for me. I experienced several issues within corporate and non-corporate jobs that tried to find ways to fire me because he or she did not want me to obtain a promotion or I was deemed overqualified for certain job positions. In the same way, my home city (Cleveland, Ohio) was not that motivating because many individuals rather see the worse in you versus the best version of you. I had to continue to motivate myself with faith in God to make a change. Moreover, my experiences within the entertainment business has not always been great because a handful of individuals were looking for me as a personal gain or to find ways to discredit me. I was able to overcome a lot of these issues by continuing to practice Buddhist principles and surrounding myself around positive and inspiring individuals.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the UltimateBoyGirl story. Tell us more about the business.
I am currently working on my own business. I want to open the doors for more successful black businesses and create opportunities for people of color. Right now, I am keeping my business plan secretly and until it is fully in full effect. I am most known for my beauty and personal blogging, acting and modeling via social media. I am most proud that I am finally using my educational background and effective leadership skills to run my very own business. The attributes that sets me apart from others is that I am “One of a Kind,” and a “Mythical Being”.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see my business being very successful and I see myself being a successful business entrepreneur.
