Meet Terrance Keith Richardson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrance Keith Richardson.

Terrance, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born on the southside of Chicago In the Roseland area. I started acting at the age of 12 doing stage plays, I joined an improv troupe called “what are they saying”. We traveled and performed all throughout the city plus New York, etc. By the time I was a senior in high school I received a posse scholarship that pays for all four years of college tuition but I only wanted to go if I could get into Pomona College.

I didn’t get Pomona College so I turned down the scholarship and attended Columbia college downtown Chicago. I studied musical theater and only went to school for three years before I dropped out due to the debt I wasn’t able to pay. After that I stop acting for a while and got involved into some other career activities such as music, dancing & got a job at Sprint for three years. That’s when I realize I was getting old and wanted to get back and acting but on a bigger level. 2015 I quit my job at Sprint saved up some money and moved to California. I jumped right in the Indus trying to figure out how this business works. Done tons of background gigs, Student films & Free indie films. In 2016 I became homeless sleeping in my car for seven months all while still going to auditions, Submitting myself for jobs, booking work while homeless.

Around 2017, I wanted more so I performed at a showcase where I was given the opportunity to sign a three-year contract with the management company Station 3 Entertainment. From that management company they helped me sign with a really big agency called CESD. The significant thing about getting signed to CESD was that all I did was have a conversation with the VP of a theatrical department Pedro Tapia and he signed me based on my story. And that’s when things started to really shift in my life as far as the type of work I was auditioning for. And now today it seems all of the hard work is paying off. I’m now on the Third season first episode of Snowfall Which I was able to meet John Singleton for the first time before his passing. This is my greatest accomplishment yet and the story is still being written.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Sometimes the roads are smooth most of the times they’re not. Being homeless, finding a regular job, maintaining a decent personal life have been obstacles I’ve had to deal with. In the industry my weight or body has been a struggle as well. I’ve been told by working directors that I need to put on more muscle burn more fat Hence why I’ve lost out on so many roles. Being in LA can put more insecurities in your life. But working on confidence loving myself getting to know myself more has helped.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m in the entertainment industry as an actor. That is my company, that is my business and that is what I’m dedicating my life to. If you follow me on Instagram @tkrichy You’ll see I’m known for pursuing my acting career dancing Modeling and every chance I get I share my story to help inspire others who are also pursuing this career. What I’m most proud of is the fact that I haven’t given up, that I have inspired those who are interested in my story And the progress from when I started to now I try to give myself more credit than I do. What sets me apart from others is that I stay true to who I am and continue to be me because I believe that’s what makes Star’s being uniquely you.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career so far is the booking of my role as LeVon on Snowfall. The reason being is that it took me four years to get there. There were so many times I wanted to give up go back home, recharge but I didn’t I stayed in it.
