Today we’d like to introduce you to Cybil Solyn.

Cybil, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Have you ever found yourself falling into a job that you were good at but that just didn’t speak to you? I fell into technology and web development in college and it just sort of stuck. The money was really good, and although I found it challenging it didn’t inspire me. So when the dot com crashed I saw it as a sign to move on to something that did.

All my life I struggled with acne and all the self-confidence problems that come with it. Acne is more than just zits on the face. It’s an entire psychological disorder. You have days where you feel like a leper and don’t want to go outside. You think people are staring at you and talking about you. You obsess about it. Do crazy things trying to get rid of it. Acne starts to control your life if ways non-acne suffers can never fully understand.

But I GET that. You see, I suffered all that for YEARS. But then I met an esthetician and she changed my life.

So when I sat myself down and really thought about what I wanted to do with my life the answer was obvious. I wanted to change people’s lives with my hands. I wanted to be just like Jane and make a difference to everyone I met by making them look and feel their best.

After working at a few different doctors offices and med spas where I was doing a lot of deep peels, laser treatments, and other aggressive stuff that I wouldn’t touch now, I started to shy away from the damage they caused to the skin because I just wasn’t happy with the long term results I was seeing on patients. As I did I started getting better results. The more holistic and kind I was the better the results were as long as they were stacked properly like a good workout routine.

And that’s how Solyn Skin Fitness Studio was born. With the idea that the skin is the largest organ of the body and should be treated with kindness. That it needs to be exercised and have the proper workout routine designed for it.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Finding the right location was probably my biggest challenge. I’ve gone through a few and every move has been costly and a hassle. My recommendation to people is to know what you want, don’t settle too much, and choose based on the landlord or company overseeing the place. Anytime I’ve had trouble with a location the landlord has ultimately made or broken the location!

Solyn Skin Fitness Studio – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in the hard to treat skincare problems – especially acne and aging, I’m the secret esthetician you discover when you’ve finally gotten serious about your skin and are ready to commit to making changes. It can take a while to get an appointment with me because I book up way in advance, but getting on my schedule is part of showing your commitment to this path.

I use lots of technology like HydraFacial and Tama Microcurrent but technology is always changing so who knows what I’ll bring in next. Often the technology is my two hands with a new technique like Japanese Facelift Massage or Acupressure.

I see all kinds of people from all walks of life. I talk about none of them to no one, It’s Vegas in here baby. People fly in to see my from all over the country which is why I’m within walking distance to the BUR airport or a Lyft from the Surf Airstrip. I do video conference consults if you can’t come in, and I ship products just about anywhere

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
To be honest I’m proud every time I get an email from a client telling me they received a compliment or felt they looked good. I don’t care how long I’ve been doing this, it always makes me a grin from ear to ear!
