Today we’d like to introduce you to Martha Lazo-Munoz.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Martha. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a #metoosurvivor In 2011 I had a dream, a vision of helping women of all ages. I figured if I had experienced Domestic Violence and Sexual abuse how many more women are out there suffering in silence. I have immediate family members, mother, daughter, nieces, cousins, friends and neighbors that have experienced the same. I saw what it did and has done to them. Without information and knowledge the bible states we will perish for the lack of knowledge. I felt led, compelled to do something about it. First off it was for me. I needed help with dealing with my own issues. The outcomes of Domestic Violence can linger if not dealt with. I sought out counseling, read books, and joined classes to teach me how to deal with my hurts, anger, and abused feelings. I have written a book about my own story in hopes of helping other women.
All ages will benefit from this book. My book talks about the sexual abuse I endured as a little girl, and how it triggers low self-esteem and how one enters into unhealthy relationships later in life. I therefore started a Resources and Referral consulting firm. One can call in and we will help you find the help you need. We are still working on organizing our call center. We want to travel and conduct speaking engagements. Our expertise is also in the Job Training programs. We will teach women how to apply for jobs in the fields they always dreamed or dreamt of. This program is available in most states. All this takes finances so we are in need of help. My vision, my goal is to empower, educate women you can heal from past hurts and wounds. It is possible.
Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth road? I think not. It is because of my hardships, my challenges in life that have motivated me to want more for myself, thus helping others. I have endured physical, emotional and financial hardships most of my life. I am a survivor, a fighter. I believe either you get up and fight for what you think is right for you, or you loose and stay complacent. I was sexually abused at a young age that I can recall. I was married at age sixteen and pregnant. Abusive marriage for nearly fifteen years. Financially having and not having. This is why I and most women stay in Domestic Violence relationships due to no money, no education, no job skills. I am determined to show others you can do something great within your life.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Women’s Legacy of Hope story. Tell us more about the business.
I have two passions. My first is my Domestic Violence Resources and Referrals consulting firm. Women helping women. Information and knowledge is key. My second is my Healthcare Staffing recruiting small business. I operate all from home base. These two go hand in hand. With my Domestic Violence Resource we can help women obtain employment. Utilizing the “On the Job Training” programs. My healthcare staffing, many of women doctor’s, physician assistants, nurses have opened up to me about their personal life. Thus needing my domestic violence help. These two work hand in hand. I am passionate about helping women of all ages. What makes me so different is the Job Training component. No one out there is maximizing this program. Women in the shelters want to know how will they support themselves and their children without jobs, or college or for many high school diplomas.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
My next years to come I pray will be grand. With my book (s) I have two more books back to back, my goals are to reach more women across the globe. My next years are dedicated to the Domestic Violence women all over the world. To teach, educate, and empower women of all ages. I am seeking and positioning myself with key players that can help me with public speaking campaigns, media, radio, and TV engagements. From the Healthcare Industry experts to the stay at home mom.
