Meet Golnaz Ahmadi of Blo & Fil in Westwood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Golnaz Ahmadi.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Having grown up in Toronto, I came to Los Angeles with a different perspective. My journey started when I discovered my artistic talent in make-up and hair at an early age. While observing the salon industry from the field, I sought after a vision to open the first ever specialty salon that focuses solely on Blow Dry’s and Threading with a twist. Blo and Fil offer’s its clients an organic experience. Everything that is used in Blo and Fil, from its complimentary beverage menu to its hair/skin care products is organic. I realized how important health, peace, love, and happiness is when someone close to me was diagnosed with cancer at a very young age. This gave me a purpose in my journey: to create a concept that benefits both my clients and our environment through the most important things in life. Health, Peace, Love and Happiness.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The toughest roads create the most beautiful destinations. The road to enlightenment is never smooth. Life constantly tests you. My dream is to watch a concept that I have created change the lives of many for the better. Opening up blo and fil has taught me so much about myself.

Entrepreneurship is not for everybody. You really have to maintain a strong belief system. At the end of the day, every business has to make sure that their pro forma is living up to it’s expectations, but at the same time keeping the vision and values intact.

Staying true to your roots in a city dominated by superficiality requires a consistent reminder of the values that have opened up your mind to living a purpose driven life rather than for the material.

I can sit here and type about all of the struggles, both minor and major. It’s not important. I choose to only focus on the positive.

Blo & Fil – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Blo and Fil wants to keep its concept very simple. We focus solely on blow dry and threading services while using organic products. However we do have a secret menu that we provide to our existing clients. The menu allows our existing clients to be able to get a cut, color, keratin treatment, extensions, make-up application, up-do, root touch up the next time they would like to book a blow out with us.

We are the first and only salon that provides these 2 services simultaneously.

What I am proud of is that my salon was founded by principles that I was awakened to. Health, Peace, Love and Happiness are the most important things in life. Everything is connected. Without health, you will never be able to find peace. Without peace, you will never find love. Without love, you will never be able to find happiness.

Blo and Fil’s flagship store is in the heart of Los Angeles. A city where these principles have always been sought after, but due to the dynamics it’s been one of the most difficult things to achieve.

What truly sets us apart is our purpose and our amazing clients see that.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is when you have realized that health, peace, love and happiness are the only things that matter in this world, and you allow your life’s purpose to be driven by them.

Money, material things, and physical beauty come and go. Your inner beauty, your family, and your life’s purpose are what stay with you till the end.
