Today we’d like to introduce you to Storm DeBarge.
Storm, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve been dancing since I was a little girl, my first dance class was at the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Monica where I grew up at with this lady named Ebonisha. I was always in the advanced classes with the older kids.
As I got older, I entered a viral movement in LA and known all over the world called Jerking (2010). I was the only girl in my group we were called Dropdeadinkc. I’ve gained fans from all over and even in foreign countries. I got a title called Queen of Dougie that still stays with me until this day. After that era sort of died down, I entered the clown movement.
I was apart of a group for about three years in South LA. Just another style I wanted to learn and master. Dancing in the streets of LA was definitely fun but not something I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I linked up with Miss Prissy, she’s currently my manager, and she started a dance company called Throne based in South La, I assist her along with my other dance partner. Our dance company Throne performed at the Millennium Tour 2019 with b2k infront of 20, 000 people.
We have kids in our dance company that we teach, and we do productions/rehearsals. I’ve danced and battled all through LA. I’ve done a lot, and I’m blessed that I got to link and meet people throughout my journey, like celebrities and Instagram public figures.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, I wouldn’t wish it to be easy cause then it wouldn’t be raw like There has to be a struggle somewhere. I deal with a lot of personal issues within my self and just the spotlight everyone puts on me for being the popular girl everywhere I go. It’s just assumptions people have on me, not bad assumptions it’s just that’s not the life I live.
I go through a lot I just don’t expose it of course cause everyone loves to see me dancing and Smiling. Also, I don’t get support from those close to me as I should, just finding out who’s really your friends is the most hardest cause you’d think people would want to support and be happy for your success.
We’d love to hear more about what you do.
Aside from the dance company I assist ( The Throne). I make videos for Instagram of course and twitter just the whole public figure Instagram and twitter viral videos. I’m known for dancing, getting off, and especially my Dougie. What I do on my own I meet up and do video concepts with other public figures. I get asked to be apart of performances and videos, I go to rehearsals for that.
When it comes to the Throne, I’m super proud of Miss Prissy myself and Cj for sticking together through whatever was thrown our way, we have 26+ kids that’s we’re catering to and teaching. Having a business isn’t easy, but it’s a good feeling. My drive sets me apart from everyone because there isn’t another me, I’m a Queen, and I’m hardworking.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I’d say maybe the friendships that I allowed and the relationships I was in. I most definitely would have handled that different because that played a big role in my downfalls within my career and decision making. Also wasting my time somewhere that wasn’t getting me anywhere and not listening to my heart.
