Meet Jessica Fisher of Bed Rest Life Coach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Fisher.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In 2011, I went into labor at 19 weeks with my twins and was placed on strict hospital bed rest to help prolong the pregnancy and stop the preterm labor. Thankfully, I was able to make it 122 days on bed rest and successfully delivered my twins at 37 weeks. However, those 122 days were filled with an incredible amount of stress, anxiety, and isolation. I could not believe what I had endured and realized that I needed to do something to help other women that were struggling with high-risk pregnancy and bed rest.

While I was going through it myself, I had started to put together my own support system and created a private Facebook group for the women that were on bed rest at my hospital. That online group transitioned into a weekly in-person support group that I convinced the hospital to create. After my bed rest journey ended, I would come back to my hospital to meet and support the women on bed rest and knew that I had found a new calling.

I decided that with so many women in need, I would have to find a way to expand my support and also take everything that I had learned and experienced and create a plan to reach women all over the country. I decided to go back to school to get my certification as a professional coach and specialize in supporting women struggling with a high-risk pregnancy. I started my company Bed Rest Life Coach in 2015 and offer coaching sessions either in-person or over the phone.

My methods help to reduce preterm labor symptoms and prolong pregnancy by focusing on minimizing stress and anxiety and creating action plans to help fill the many hours per day spent in bed. It is crucial to have this type of support during such a difficult time, especially from someone who has experienced bed rest first hand.

Has it been a smooth road?
Since bed rest coaches did not exist before me, I have had to create a brand new path so it has been challenging to raise awareness about what I do and how I can help. As more and more women and doctors know about me and the services I provide, word of mouth is helping to let women know that they are not alone when they get prescribed bed rest.

One in five women will be prescribed bed rest at some point during their pregnancy, so the need and demand is there. Resources need to be offered and available to all women that are struggling with high-risk pregnancy because their doctor is primarily focused on their body, not their mental well-being.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Bed Rest Life Coach is known for being the only company to specialize in individual support and resources for women on bed rest. There are different coaching packages that offer personalized coaching sessions on a daily basis if needed or weekly based on what is best for each individual.

Most of the time, women are prescribed bed rest at a critical time in their pregnancy when the baby is not viable yet. Having this kind of service during such a scary and stressful time can be so incredibly helpful.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
There are so many incredible doctors and hospitals in Los Angeles which means that we have the resources and experts available when a woman is diagnosed with a high-risk pregnancy.

I do offer in-person coaching for local women and being in Los Angeles, there are more opportunities to have that one-on-one time.
