Meet Bruno Miotto in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bruno Miotto.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Bruno. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After I graduated from the University of Turin in Semiotic on a thesis project on Mulholland Drive, I worked as an art director in advertising for 3 years in Milan, Italy. That time allowed me to discover my passion for storytelling and films, so I decided to move to Los Angeles to study filmmaking at the NYFA. My first job as a director it was with an Italian Production company called Indiana production after they saw my thesis project film The Day the Music Died inspired by the life of rock’n’roll legend Buddy Holly. I shot with them a digital campaign for Fiat 500 and I still remember the excitement I felt before the shoot. After that, I started working in commercials and branded content, and I’ve been working in the field for more than 8 years now. Every job is a new challenge, a new world to explore and a part of me to unravel.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely not. But who likes smooth roads? Advertising is a tough and very competitive environment. As a freelance director, you constantly need to re-invent yourself and adapt to face new challenges. You can’t fear the new, otherwise, you’re dead and you become old. You need to love the ups and downs of a road that can be bumpy at times, but the rewards are very high. It’s a passion job, more than work, and you need to earn it every day.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I’m a freelance director, and I’m often hired to write ideas and digital campaigns directly for fashion brands. I recently shot a branded content with an American photographer that I admire, named Ryan Shorosky. We shot a docu-short film of his life and work between Arizona and California, and it was a great experience. I work between here and Europe. I recently collaborated with Yoox Net-a-Porter group on their worldwide campaign and I shot a commercial for Kiko Milano that it’ll be on air in Italy late in 2018. I like to tell stories for brands and fashion is the field that I love the most, and also where you can experiment the most.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I need to thank the first producer who ever worked with, Marco Cohen, who believed in me and gave me the opportunity to start working as a Director. I need to thank my parents for always been very supportive and allow me to study in the U.S. They taught me that anything is possible if you really want it.
