Conversations with the Inspiring Julia Jovone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia Jovone.

Julia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Born and raised in Chicago, IL at the age of 27, I left corporate America and my beautiful 2 bedroom apartment and I moved to NY with my then 7-year-old. I was determined to make it as a professional makeup artist. It would take loads of faith, patience, and determination. I was ready. Within a year of my son and I live in NY, I got my dream job to work on an ongoing TV show. With 2 years into my career, I was blessed to become an Emmy Award Winning Makeup Artist with also 2 other recognitions after my very first win. The dream I had envisioned for myself was literally becoming a reality right before my eyes.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road hasn’t been smooth but it was all worth it. There were many sacrifices I had to make. Some days weren’t as easy as others. Along with my journey, I gave birth to my twin boys at the height of my career. I didn’t stop. I literally kept going.

You see, in life, when you are determined and hold a large amount of faith you must learn to give up worry and believe that all will work together for your greater good. I believed in myself, my children and my career. I believed that God wouldn’t let go of my hand. The future I desired was promised to me and I was ready for it.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into your business story. Tell us more about the business.
I started off in my career as an Emmy Award Makeup Artist. After my move to LA in 2015, I become interested in the Healing Arts. I am now an Intuitive Reiki Practitioner and Spiritual Coach. I still do makeup for TV and Film. Yet, my passion lies in my wellness business “Wellness With J’Soul.” I will forever and always be a creative spirit. It lives within me and I breathe it daily.

I’m most proud that I am able to help others heal or assist them in bringing their dreams into a reality.

Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
Absolutely! My grandmother was the epitome in my life before she passed on and her spirit continues to live within me. She keeps me grounded and filled with so much love. My mother as well. They taught me to never give up and always told me how proud they were of me.
