Meet Patrice Covington of The Galaxy Method by Patrice Covington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrice Covington.

Patrice, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I count myself as an actor and singer who has “worked my way up”. I started at 16 singing on a harbor cruise ship in Norfolk, Virginia. That was followed by Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia and Tampa Florida as a theme park performer. Then Disney Cruise Lines, Broadway National tours and various other moments to a Broadway performer in the Tony, Grammy, and Emmy award-winning The Color Purple revival as Squeak.

I have represented myself and been represented by amazing agents and managers. I am grateful to have learned the business in a very hands-on way that allows me to share, inspire, and teach young artists the business of show. I show them what my trademarked motto “Don’t be a star… be a Galaxy!” means.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
“Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair!”- Langston Hughes. There were definitely no smooth roads to get here. I am very grateful for every bump and pothole along the way because I wouldn’t know what I know. In turn, I wouldn’t be able to help others for when they hit those same or similar potholes. I love helping people and thrive on my network being my net worth.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Galaxy Method by Patrice Covington – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in helping young artists find their way in this business of show. I do private coaching and teach at schools, universities and entertainment based companies. What sets me apart is that I typically teach and speak to artists who are well on their way. They just need to really deal on the info. I give it to them straight no chaser and connect them with vital resources and people that love helping young people.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am looking forward to building my network of Galaxy Method leaders and teachers. I have so many friends that are successful and anxious to share and help. Actors, dancers, singers, voice over artists, hosts. I look forward to The Galaxy Method truly encompassing all facets of the industry.
