Life and Work with Amy de Quintal-Fuertsch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy de Quintal-Fuertsch.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m a Southern California girl, actress and full-time blogger. I graduated with a BA in the Performing Arts and I’m currently residing in Orange County with my husband and fur baby Shakespeare. I’ve always enjoyed styling outfits for myself as well as friends, discussing make-up tips, tricks and sharing my personal style aesthetic, be it fashion, beauty or lifestyle.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’m still newer to the blogging world & it has been quite an adjustment professionally and personally. When I decided to take the plunge into blogging full-time last year, I knew I wanted to focus on personal style. I also knew I wanted to interact and share with people who were not only lovers of fashion, beauty, decor etc… but REAL people with real bodies, budgets and dilemmas. It’s been a big change both personally and professionally. Not to mention a HUGE learning curve that is probably just beginning honestly, but so far it’s been worth all the ups and downs, stressful moments and little victories.

My advice to other women who are thinking about starting a blog, Go For It! I’m constantly doing research and learning new things all the time about blogging. Don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions to fellow bloggers in the community. I’ve learned some really helpful tips that way and have paid it forward.

Remember, not everyone is going to love you and that’s okay because those who do follow and support you will bring you more inspiration and motivation than you can possibly imagine.

Please tell us about AKA CHIC .
AKACHIC is my fashion, beauty and lifestyle blog. It’s motto “be your own version of chic,” embodies the idea of staying true to your personal style aesthetic, be it fashion, beauty, design, etc. I want my readers to feel inspired by my style tips, beauty reviews, easy decor updates and entertaining ideas because that’s what I love to spend my time doing! I’m always on the hunt for a good deal, constantly thinking up new ways to redecorate our house and love finding the next great local spot for a delicious meal or a fun night out. Recently, I’ve gotten into styling clients & overhauling their wardrobe.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
There are a few things that have really helped me along the way. I love the apps Adobe Lightroom and VSCO for Instagram photos. Not only do they make your images pop, they’re easy to use which is a must for me!

I also highly recommend finding groups on Facebook or on other social media platforms where you can collaborate and interact with fellow creators. I have several that help me in different ways and they are free so take advantage!
