Today we’d like to introduce you to India King.
Hi India, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey in entertainment started much earlier than people realize. My very first audition was for the role of an orphan in *Annie*, and from that moment on, performance and storytelling became a part of who I was. I later attended a School of the Arts where I studied theater and musical theater, which gave me a strong foundation in acting and live performance early on. Around the same time, I also discovered that I naturally had the ability to play instruments by ear, which deepened my connection to music and creativity overall. Alongside performing, I was constantly writing poetry and stories, so storytelling in every form has always been at the center of my life.
Before stunts became part of my career, music and acting were really developing side by side for me. I moved to Cleveland with hopes of working alongside Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and eventually signed with an independent management company connected to their team. During that time, I was singing, rapping, writing, and performing while developing my own sound and identity as an artist. I later released my own EP and continued evolving creatively.
Eventually, I made the move to Los Angeles around 2005 and found myself immersed in the entertainment industry very quickly. I earned my SAG card working on *Freddie*, starring Freddie Prinze Jr., and from there began working on productions such as *Malcolm in the Middle*, *Scrubs*, and many others. That chapter opened the door for me to truly understand the television and film world from the inside.
At one point, I stepped back into music in a completely different way by forming a rock band called *Dragon King’s Daughter*, where I was the lead vocalist and bassist. That project allowed me to explore another side of myself creatively and artistically. I’ve always believed artists should never feel confined to one lane.
Life shifted again when I became seriously ill and was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder. That period forced me to slow down and rebuild myself physically and mentally. Once my health began improving and I went into remission, I unexpectedly found my way into the stunt world through someone who recognized that my athletic background — including boxing, martial arts training, and even cage fighting — naturally aligned with action performance.
What started as taking a chance quickly became a major turning point in my career. Stunts opened doors I never expected and pushed me to grow not only physically, but professionally and creatively. I’ve had the opportunity to stunt double for several leading actresses and work on incredible productions, while continuing to develop myself as both an actress and action performer.
Today, I see my career as a fusion of everything I’ve experienced — music, acting, movement, storytelling, writing, and resilience. Most recently, I released my book *Nite Terrors* on February 13, 2026, which feels like another full-circle moment for me because writing has always been at the core of who I am. No matter what medium I work in, storytelling has remained the constant thread throughout my entire journey.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, but I think that’s true for most artists who are genuinely committed to their craft and personal growth. The entertainment industry can be challenging in general, but as a woman — and especially as a woman of color who is ethnically ambiguous — there are times when people don’t quite know where to place you. I’ve had moments where I knew I was capable of something, but still had to fight to be seen beyond labels, assumptions, or industry expectations.
There were also personal challenges along the way. At one point, I became seriously ill and was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder, which forced me to slow down and rebuild myself physically, mentally, and emotionally. That experience changed my perspective on life and my career in a major way.
But through all of it, I’ve learned the importance of staying true to myself. I don’t believe in chasing validation or forcing opportunities. I believe in alignment, preparation, and growth. I always say, “I don’t chase, I attract.” Every challenge, setback, or redirection taught me something valuable about resilience, discipline, and knowing my worth.
I truly believe that what is meant for me will be mine, and because of that mindset, I’ve been able to continue evolving creatively without losing myself in the process.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m known primarily as an actress and stunt performer, but honestly my career has always been rooted in storytelling and transformation. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work across television, film, music, live performance, and now writing, which has allowed me to approach entertainment from multiple creative perspectives.
Within the stunt world, I’ve worked on a wide range of productions, including shows like *Henry Danger*, *Snowfall*, and *The Walking Dead*, along with doubling and performing alongside several lead actresses throughout my career. What I love most about stunt work is that it combines physical discipline, performance, trust, and storytelling all at once. It’s not just action — it’s emotional storytelling through movement.
As an actress, I’ve always been drawn to layered characters and projects that allow me to bring authenticity and presence to the screen. I think one thing that has helped me stand out is that I come from a very diverse artistic background. I didn’t enter this industry from just one lane. I’ve studied theater and musical theater, performed music professionally, fronted a rock band, written poetry and stories for years, and trained physically through martial arts, boxing, and stunt performance. All of those experiences shaped the performer and creative person I am today.
What I’m most proud of is my resilience and ability to evolve. There were moments in my journey where life forced me to rebuild myself completely, especially after facing serious health challenges. But instead of allowing those experiences to stop me, they pushed me into new chapters creatively and professionally.
Most recently, releasing my book *Nite Terrors* felt incredibly meaningful because it brought me back to where everything really started for me — writing and storytelling. No matter what area of entertainment I’m working in, whether it’s acting, stunts, music, or writing, my goal has always been the same: to create work that connects with people and leaves a lasting impact.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can connect with me in a few different ways depending on the type of collaboration or project. I’m always open to connecting with other creatives, filmmakers, writers, musicians, stunt professionals, and people who are passionate about authentic storytelling and meaningful art.
The easiest place to connect with me directly is through Instagram at @itsindiakking, which is where I’m most active and engage the most with supporters and collaborators. For professional inquiries, collaborations, interviews, creative projects, or business opportunities, I can also be reached via email at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]).
For acting and stunt-related opportunities, representation inquiries can be directed through my agency, Sovereign Talent.
One of the biggest ways people can support me is simply by supporting the work itself — whether that’s watching the projects I’m involved in, following my creative journey, reading my book *Nite Terrors*, or continuing to uplift independent artists and storytellers. I genuinely believe collaboration and community are powerful, and I’m excited for the next chapter of projects and connections still ahead.
