Rising Stars: Meet Lauren Wilson of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Wilson.

Hi Lauren, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is MATCHA, I am 22 years old I am a graphic artist, entertainer, and entrepreneur. I grew up in south LA raised by a single mother , I am the only girl of 5 kids. We moved around a lot growing up due to unstable housing, and my mom’s mental instability. My Experiences of adversity like living in shelters, cars, attending over 10 public schools in my youth ages, has not stopped me but ultimately challenged me and encouraged me test the boundaries and have a different outlook on the world. I later moved to Studio city and am now living in Inglewood CA. I am the founder of Hairhyper a wig Brand that offers Alternative cuts and exclusive styles. I am navigating running a business with a small team and hoping to leave a big mark in the hair world!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of my obstacles have been navigating where I came from and who I am, not letting my circumstances define me. Changing my habits, struggling with homelessness

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an abstract visual and physical artist, hair curator , and painter. I express myself through different mediums, I love movement, I love colors and patterns and that is what I show a lot of in my work. They all tie into eachother.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is being able to be be myself fully and inspire others while doing it.
