Daily Inspiration: Meet David Cohen

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Cohen.

David , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Growing up my dream was to be a plastic surgeon. Restoring people’s self confidence through the power of altering their appearance. Going through school I realized that I still had the same goal but I could do it through dentistry. To me dentistry was not just teeth it was a hyper speciality when it came to the face. After I graduated my goal was to learn as much as I could not only from the greatest dentists but also from facial plastic surgeons. This allowed me to understand how the teeth frame and structure the face. A year ago, it came time to create my own vision and space and I took over Alluna Dental. A boutique practice in Studio City, that’s designed to create custom smile transformations and restore people’s self confidence through aesthetic dentistry.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Overall, the journey has been smooth, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t challenges along the way. Taking over an established practice as a young dentist meant quickly learning how to become not only a clinician, but also an effective communicator, leader, and business owner. Dental school taught us how to treat patients and restore teeth, but not how to manage a team, oversee operations, track inventory, or market a practice.

One of the biggest challenges was earning trust. When patients hear that their longtime doctor retired and someone new is stepping in, hesitation is completely natural. I’m grateful that the patients at Alluna gave me the opportunity to get to know them and care for them, they embraced my vision and connected with my approach to dentistry.

At first, those challenges felt overwhelming, but having a strong support system around me made all the difference and helped me navigate each stage of growth

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I started as a creative, transitioned into becoming a clinician, and now I’m a business owner combining all three. I’m a cosmetic dentist and practice owner focused on smile design, cosmetic dentistry, and helping patients feel confident while maintaining a natural, individualized result. During dental school, I built an audience on social media where I shared dental education, behind-the-scenes moments, product reviews, and my journey to becoming a dentist. Today, I’m fortunate to combine those passions in my own private practice. I see patients three days a week, and the remaining days I continue creating educational and lifestyle content online.

That content has helped connect me with patients and opened opportunities to collaborate with brands including Sensodyne, Listerine, and Porsche, and I’m currently featured in a national television campaign.

What I’m most proud of and what I think sets me apart is being able to merge patient care with communication and creativity. Whether it’s in the dental office or through content, my goal is the same: to educate, inspire confidence, and make oral health and aesthetics feel more approachable and accessible to people everywhere

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that growth happens outside of your comfort zone. Every stage of my journey from creating content online, to becoming a dentist, to taking over an established practice came with moments where I felt pressure, but those moments ultimately pushed me to grow the most. I’ve also learned that success doesn’t come from doing everything perfectly—it comes from staying consistent, surrounding yourself with good people, and being willing to adapt
