Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Mochizuki.
Hi Rachel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Truthfully, I never imagined I’d end up where I am today, doing both psychic readings and working as a psychotherapist. Growing up, I was always on the path to becoming the doctor my Asian parents had dreamed I would be. But when I saw a psychic for the first time at 16, she told me she didn’t see me becoming a doctor at all.
At the time, I was devastated. I was struggling deeply and refused counseling, life coaching, psychology services, really any kind of traditional help. My mom was at her wit’s end so on a whim, as a last ditch effort to find something I might actually be open to, she took me to see a psychic medium.
During the reading, the psychic told me she saw me working as a healer like a shaman or therapist, not as a doctor, and also working as a psychic medium like her. I genuinely thought she was joking. At the end of the session, she said, “Tomorrow, your guides are going to give you a sign. When it happens, call me.”
I left even more confused than before and was fully convinced that all of this spiritual stuff was a hoax.
But the next day, while I was locking up my house, I suddenly heard my name being shouted at me so clearly that I nearly had a panic attack. I spun around so fast that I slipped and fell, but nobody was there. I was completely alone. And immediately, I remembered what she had said to me the day before.
I immediately drove back to see her, and she became my first psychic medium mentor!
That experience was what started my journey into psychic mediumship. After the pandemic, I officially opened my business and began working as an in house reader at Dual Crossroads. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with so many incredible people through readings and even going viral on YouTube along the way.
Around the same time, I was also in graduate school to become a marriage and family therapist. After obtaining my associate licensure, I found myself in a really unique position: being able to support people spiritually through my psychic medium work while also offering clinical help as a therapist.
In both spaces, the heart of the work has always been the same for me. I love that I am able to help people heal, feel seen, and navigate life with more clarity and support. It’s been the most unexpected but also equally rewarding path I could have imagined and I am so grateful to be able to do this work!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a psychic medium and psychotherapist, I often feel a pressure to perform. I’ve had to do a lot of work around my own self worth and learn not to let anxiety drive people-pleasing behaviors out of fear of disappointing my clients. Over time, I’ve learned how to speak honestly about what I’m feeling and trust both my spiritual and clinical intuition more deeply. It’s still something I’m actively working through, but I’m proud of how much growth has happened over the years!
Another challenge I’ve faced has been learning how to keep my psychic mediumship work and clinical work appropriately separate. It’s incredibly important to me that I’m practicing ethically and within legal guidelines, so navigating how spirituality may show up in psychotherapy, and how my clinical knowledge naturally informs my psychic mediumship work, has been a nuanced journey. I regularly consult with mentors, supervisors, and my community to make sure I’m showing up authentically in both spaces and always acting in the best interest of my clients.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a psychic medium and psychotherapist!
As a psychotherapist, I specialize in working with folks navigating eating disorders, body image concerns, and disordered eating. I also specialize in supporting clients with complex and childhood trauma, anxiety, depression, and relational issues. I’m honestly really proud of how I came to specialize in these areas, because so much of this work has been shaped by my own lived experiences and personal healing journey. Through that, I’ve learned how to bring my humanity, authenticity, and deeply embodied empathy into the therapy space. I truly value the therapeutic relationship and the transformative healing that can happen when clients feel genuinely understood and supported.
On the other hand, I’m known for being a direct, emotional, and highly accurate psychic medium. Many of the clients I read for love that I’m able to see their chakras and read aura colors right off the bat without any card pulls. I do use tarot and oracle cards to help deepen and clarify the insight that comes through during readings, but much of my initial information is purely intuitive. My readings don’t follow a rigid structure, but clients often share that the messages, validations, and predictions I relay resonate deeply with them. I love when clients reach out and tell me that what I said came true or that they felt like they had more clarity after a reading!
What makes you happy?
I genuinely love being able to support people. I know it sounds cheesy, but it means so much to me that I get to help others in two very different capacities through both my clinical and spiritual work. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about connecting with people so deeply, holding space for them, and being part of their healing and growth. It brings me so much joy and purpose!
On a personal level, my partner, family, and friends are also a huge source of happiness for me. As much as I value the meaningful connections I build through my work, I equally value the love, grounding, and support I’ve cultivated in my own personal life. Those relationships keep me connected to myself just as much as my work keeps me connected to others.
