Today we’d like to introduce you to Lyssa Lough.
Hi Lyssa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Our aesthetic is rooted in the belief that luxury should be comfortable and style should be effortless. Specializing in ‘classics with a twist’ the store’s collection offers pieces one can dress up or down without missing a beat – from coffee with friends to a nice dinner out we’ve got you covered: the perfect blazer, the softest knits, and the right denim—all thoughtfully assembled to provide an All-American, Hamptons-meets-California vibe.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Something gets lost when so much of our lives are on-line—we’ve traded conversations for computer screens. I love collaborating in person to build great looks because style should be a fun dialogue, and not just a data point. We love the process of getting to know our customers—learning their quirks and favorites. That kind of intimate service can’t be coded.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Rita’s Rags ?
I’ve been serving clients in Santa Monica since 2000.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was a very creative child—I started sewing when I was ten making everything from dresses to jeans. . As a teen I made jewelry out of beads, strings, leather, and repurposed antiques. I’ve always loved fashion, accessories and a well put together but casual look. Everything I do today is still guided by my early fascination with blending old and new to come up with looks that are comfortable, original and 100% you.
