Exploring Life & Business with Zaye Park of SAMPLD

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zaye Park.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Zaye Park’s journey is rooted in a deep understanding of both the creative and structural sides of the music business. After pivoting from the University of Guelph-Humber to focus on the entertainment industry, they graduated from the Metalworks Institute in 2021 with a degree in Music Business.

This educational foundation informs her approach to artist development and management, allowing them to navigate the industry as a creator. Since 2020, she has focused on a completely self-produced catalog, using her platform to advocate for those who do not conform to societal norms.

As of 2026, Zaye Park is entering a highly productive phase with two major projects in development:

Third Mixtape: Executively produced by Zaye Park and Dane2000, this untitled project, completed in 3 days explores, themes of the past, present, and future.” The lyrical focus centers on the philosophy of taking risks to avoid missed opportunities.

Fourth Mixtape: Also currently in development.

Distribution Strategy: In a move toward artist-to-fan autonomy, the upcoming third project will be released direct-to-fan via both physical and digital formats, emphasizing a curated distribution process.

Park’s work is characterized by a blend of hip-hop, pop, and alternative influences. Their transition into writing more heavily in recent years has served as a vehicle for expressing her outlook on life, with a primary mission to spread positive energy and provide a voice for their community.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road but a journey. Working as an artist in Toronto with a vision always comes with it’s challenges and it’s not easy. When expressing your art form through any medium starts feeling like this, it is beneficial to take a step back to revaluate why you’re feeling this way. An example of this for instance can be going through writers block. There was an initial struggle for me to write lyrics that correspond with how I’m feeling. In return, I came up with an alternate process for myself through freestyling the lyrics and writing melodies. This allowed me to reinterpret my thoughts and formulate a message that aligns with the music.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am the owner and creative director for SAMPLD Magazine – a quarterly print magazine. SAMPLD is redefining the Canadian media landscape by bridging the gap between generations. Inspired by the transformative nature of musical sampling, we curate global trends and movements into authentic, high impact storytelling.

Our Mission: To amplify diverse voices and remix contemporary narratives. Through print and digital mastery, we empower our community by paying tribute to the legacies that define our industry.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
My motto is Take the Risk or Lose the Chance. There has been plenty moments where I’ve had to take that leap of faith throughout my life. I’ve realized that in doing this it allows for you to understand who you are as person and you’re able to grow as a person in receiving the positive outcomes that come from it.

We often get caught up in playing within the mindset of fitting in or playing a societal norm. Stepping outside of your comfort zone whilst being present in the moment is where everything starts to come together.
